Mason Rudolph Faces Baker Mayfield and the Browns in Thursday Night Football

Who swings a helmet at someones head like that? Kick him out of the league. Complete trash.

I regret turned the TV off at the 2 min mark…

One of the best qb’s in cowboy history throws more interceptions than good passes. Can only win games when all he is ask to do is hand off to the rb. I think we can see why Gundy has only won one conference title.
I’d be willing to bet Gundy doesn’t win a conference title in the next 8 years. It doesn’t matter if it’s Sanders or Illingworth the coaching talent isn’t there. Texas Tech put a qb in the league OU has put several but Gundy just can’t. He’s the middle of the conference coach and that’s good enough for most.

You realize this thread is about a QB Gundy put in the league right? Also. I don’t know if you heard of a guy named Brandon Weeden? He was also a Gundy QB that was a 1st round pick. Then before that was a guy named Zac Robinson. Also a Gundy QB drafted and played in the league. Now he coaching there btw. Ok? Cool. Poke em.

So was this nice poetry and meditation started before or after he punched a player on the field after the whistle? Or when he hit the Jets QB late and broke his ankle? Or after he assaulted Mason on TNF? Just curious…

Weeden is your idea of successful in the NFL?

I don’t agree with your take. The level of skill it takes to be an NFL QB is immense. You have 100’s of college QBs a year trying to break into the NFL and fighting for a spot on a practice squad or as a backup, let alone the few that get a chance to start. Even getting on a roster, and let alone getting on the field for any games is an accomplishment.

Placing all the blame on Gundy’s coaching for lack of QB’s in the league is a GIGANGTIC stretch in my opinion. There are plenty of successful schools that don’t put QB’s in the NFL and that’s because it’s a numbers game.

OU QB’s in the league since 2000: Bradford, Mayfield, Murray. Bradford was just OK in the NFL and was never a great starter. The jury is out on Mayfield and Murray, but it’s not looking great for either at the moment. And don’t give OU the credit for Mayfield, give it to Mayfield. He was the one who had to walk on to their team because they didn’t believe in him.

Mahomes is a generational talent and a wizard with the ball. Kliff Klingsbury said he would get bored in practice because he was so good. He could have played at a DII school and still played in the NFL.

Rudolph is serviceable, just inconsistent. The windows in the NFL are tight and his throws aren’t always accurate enough.

Am I the only one who watched the game last night? Rudolph was on a winning streak before this game and was playing all right, not great, but good enough to win games. As for last night, he had absolutely no time to throw all game and was rushed on nearly every pass attempt, as well as sacked numerous times. Two of his picks were with WR 1&2 out and RB1 was out as well. Was forced to throw to worse receivers when they were obviously going to pass. Before this game he was as good or better than Big Ben was through his first games. It’s too early to tell how Mason’s career will play out, and this wasn’t the game to determine that.

I would say an 8 year career at the highest level making millions is successful. Yes.

I did. My biggest question was what happened to the wildcat formations that were working so well for them in previous games?

Plus several receivers dropped contested catches expecting to be granted a PI to bail them out.

Mason does need to learn to escape the pocket though but he was not getting any help last night. Browns D Line has his number all night

It’s not Gundy’s job to make NFL QBs. His job is to win college football games. Did Mahomes with all that talent ever win the Big 12? Did he ever beat us? No he did not.

I watched the game and it was hard to watch, he rarely had a clean pocket. I’ve watched several of his other games as well and that’s where my comment about accuracy comes from. He’s thrown quite a few balls behind, short, and high of his receiver. But like I said, the windows are tight in the NFL and it’s obvious still has growing to do to become a starting NFL QB.

You are right, it’s not Gundy’s job to make NFL qbs. It’s also not his job to ever beat OU win a conference title recruit better than about 38th.

His team is making him look terrible. He’s not exactly Brady, but still…

Exactly! Well said…

i agree

Steelers are completely depleted right now…

Stipe Miccic weighs in on how it was all Mason’s fault. I hope Cormier beats that azz.

Mostly at qb.
