Mike Gundy Goes on Tangent Saying 'In Most Cases' Negative People Voicing Options 'Can't Pay Their Own Bills'

Wow what a dumb thing to say.

Hey Gundy, bills paid and y’all suck man. What now? Idiot.

  • One conference title in two decades (K State and Baylor have more)

  • No blue bloods to compete against any longer

  • Can’t win a conference game returning the most starters in the conference

  • Hires a WR coach as an OC that struggles to have a top 50 offense

  • Hires a D2 DC with no experience, and behold, we’re the worst P4 defense in the country

  • Can’t recruit, and even before NIL, still couldn’t recruit

  • Wasted Boone’s donation

  • When he fails, he blames everyone but himself. He did the same exact thing in 2018

  • Threatened to leave in 2017 after not meeting season expectations. Ended up getting a raise for underachieving

  • Says he wants to have championship football, but doesn’t want to adapt to championship ways

This goes beyond “hate” in my opinion. This is not what the new “top dog” in the conference should look like or start off as if that’s what the intent is. He gets paid 8 mil a year for a reason, and it’s not to talk trash about the fans, or to continue telling the media how he got “outcoached” or how the players “need to search their souls”. No, if he wants to be the CEO of a he program then he can act like it. Or we can hand the keys to someone who has bigger aspirations than going 6-6.

Gundy can officially go fvck himself.

Unfortunately it is the boosters and regents that will have to fire his ass because Weiberg won’t.

Gundy’s following quote is total BS; I’ve been helping pay this pile of :poop::poop::poop:’s salary from day 1. He can go F’em self!!!

He can’t be fired fast enough or hit the road on his own; personally, I don’t give a :poop: either way, just get the F out of Stillwater, you self-centered, arrogant pile of :poop::poop::poop:!!!

“In most cases, the people that are negative and voicing their opinion are the same ones that can’t pay their own bills,” Gundy said. “They’re not taking care of themselves. They’re not taking care of their own family. They’re not taking care of their own job. But they have an obligation to speak out and complain about others because it makes them feel better. But then, in the end, when they go to bed at night, they’re the same failure that they were before they said anything negative about anybody else.”

So why is this conference Audio only?

They said it was conducted virtually due to the inclement weather across the state.

This guy has cooked his own goose. Team sucks this year (his fault), team will likely suck next year due to most of the experience graduating and poor recruiting (his fault), NIL budget is going to suck (his fault). Gundy has dug himself a major hole at a rapid pace. I would think this has gotta be on purpose because I refuse to believe you end up at this point accidentally.

So, you’re only a failure if you 1) can’t accept it 2) have a bad attitude about it and 3) don’t do everything you can to be better. Huh.

Jabs at Gundy aside, it’s important to emphasize controlling the things you can control and process, but you can’t then turn around and say “oh that guy was just better, nothing I could do”, life isn’t like that, you create plans to play to your strengths and to minimize theirs. You can’t trot out “I only focus on what I control and I control nothing at all.” That fatalism, that’s not being proactive.

Ok so I listened the the news conference and as usual folks, IMO, don’t truly listen to what Gundy is saying. In regards to the comment about complainers not paying bills I don’t think he is attacking the general population of fans. He is talking about the typical social media troll/keyboard warrior who just live to spout negativity about someone else or someone like an ahole dad who lives through his kids accomplishments on the field. Also as far as taking action to fix what is going on he said that he has plans, long term ones. Of course he’s not going to tell us what they are so we are just going to have to wait and see. Hell maybe he is planning to retire who knows.

He is not saying that. What he is saying is very clear and not complicated. Also while Gundy seems to be more transparent than most coaches I can almost assure you that he is not truly telling what he really thinks 80% of the time in these news conferences.

If that’s who he’s viewing in the lens of being the OSU fans, then he should be fired for not understanding his own school’s alumni. He’s not wrong about internet trolls. But OSU isn’t a blueblood. We don’t have t-shirt following that the school down south has. The fans criticizing him aren’t internet trolls that have nothing to do with the university. They are the alumni and backers who aren’t paid $8M to care about OSU football, yet do anyway.

Did everyone forget the Texas game from 2018?

“I don’t give a rat’s a55 what any of them say (fart sound)”

Then proceeds to go 6-6. Except this time, he’s not going 6-6. He’s not changing folks. His defeatist attitude isn’t going away at all. You can’t win the conference when someone like that is in charge. Gundy rides both sides of the fence. He wants the fans to show up so he doesn’t look bad. Not because he genuinely cares.

He tells you what you want to hear for the sake of continued increases in his salary. I think he’s made it really clear since 2017 that Gundy only worries about Gundy. Which is why we still don’t have a conference title since 2011.

He hasn’t told me what I want to hear yet. I’m waiting for one sentence. “I need to do better.” He’s blamed schemes (aka his assistants), players, and fans. But in 6 straight losses, I’ve yet to hear him say “I” other than to comment that he’ll be at work on Sunday and that he’ll need to watch more film. He wants me to trust in him and his vision. That would be a hell of a lot easier if he showed just a smidge more ownership.

On a side note, I miss the “Come after me. I’m a man, I’m 40” version of Gundy over this Corporate type sock-puppet were getting this year.

I agree. I’m speaking in terms of fans showing up to support the program at certain events. He acts like he wants a packed crowd every game, and then coaches like nobody is watching or something :man_shrugging:.

Optics matter - and the optics are not good on this one. Intended or not, delivery like this (regardless of content) alienates people the University needs.

I just don’t get why he thinks he’s apparently immune to the late career slide that a lot of coaches encounter. Heck no I don’t trust you Mike, you’re past your apex and going down in a blaze. This happened to Gary Patterson, it happened to Bob Stoops, it happened to Mack Brown, it happened to Bobby Bowden — it even happened to Bill Belicheck. All of those guys were great and still hit a point where it didn’t look so great anymore and most of them had the sense to hang it up before it got really bad. Gundy is clearly at that point and why would I believe that his late career will be more successful than those other guys?

Under ANY circumstances I cannot imagine Shrum or Weinberg or ANY major boosters find his comments acceptable…I’m equally confident GUNDY will be getting an ear full from all 3 stakeholders …
