Mike Gundy Reportedly Showed Interest in Florida Job Before Dan Mullen Was Hired

I truly enjoy reading some of y’all’s comments. It’s good to have dreams. It usually leads to disappointment!!! It must be a miserable existence believing Gundy should be gone, or we can win championships in football. Love and appreciate what we have! Because someday it will be back to the days of .500 or less.

I’m with you. Seems like we are stuck with him. No has the guts to fire him.

These guys act like he is a stray dog.
Not a coach who has won over 67% of bowls and games. 15 stairght winning seasons. Coming off a year at 70% not including a bowl win.

Look, I’ve grown tired of Gundy and his schtick like everyone else. I do think his tenure has probably come close to its natural end. Coaches have a “lifespan” at schools and very very few can consistently be excellent for close to 20 years. But, come on, “below average football coach”? Gundy is in the top 10 on winningest active coaches. As much as his off the field antics, conservative offenses, lack of high level recruiting, and Bedlam failures get on my nerves, do you really think OSU would perform more consistently better over the same time period? Look no further than Nebraska, USC, and even Michigan–all way better programs. Be careful what you wish for cause you just might get it.

Who cares? This was 2017. Why now? Negative news sells? I would rather read about needed improvements on the field.

Gundy as a HC is a fascinating discussion. Hes been really good at times, and those that defend him have some valid points. On the flip side, hes been very average by most standards and the criticism is absolutely warranted.

Hes lost 3 or more Conf games in 9 of his 16 seasons, including 6 of the last 9. Thats not real good. Hes also won 10+ games in 6 of the last 11 seasons…which is pretty good. Hes only won 1 Conf Title…which isnt good. I will say that for the people that say “well do you really think we could get someone that would do better?”…YES. Yes you could get someone to do better than Gundy has. Now, you could also go through some growing pains and struggle too. But you can definitely find someone to do better than 20-16 in Conf over the last 4 years

“If I’m ok with a 6+ wins and a bowl game everyone should be. Back in my day it was worse.” Give me a break. The dude is on a decline. Was he very good at one point in time? Yes. Is the time now? Hell no it isn’t. He’s been nothing but average the last 4 years going on 5th from what we’ve seen on the field so far. He’s complacent since he knows the administration isn’t going to fire him as long as he goes to the whogivesashit bowl every year.

This site likes to get the natives riled up. It boosts post made.

Coming from a guy who thinks going to the dance once in 4 years and 1 win is above average.

Didn’t say it was above average. It’s poor. But at least the guy is recruiting well and righting the ship from Ford and Underwood failures while under investigation by the FBI and NCAA. If he can’t win this year and next it’s time to move on.

I think we should be at least as good as last year record wise. He got players on the team.
My main deal is how is going to add players with out losing players, draft or portal. Next year has has more room.

Your right and I agree with you. If we continue to hold onto Gundy we’ll be back into Bob Simmons mode.

I know what he was saying. The answer is yes. Getting a coach that actually cares that his team doesn’t look like crap every Saturday is a possibility you know.

Yes. We are going to replace you with fans who are more hungry for more than 6-6 and an Independence Bowl appearance.
