Oklahoma, are you okay?

A lot of the old stuff is looking at geological layers and ice cores. My understanding is that you don’t get year by year but you can get a pretty good idea of what things looked like averaged out over several years or a decade.

Actually, it is all cattle, no hat.

Seriously, I haven’t worn my felt hat since my final competitive rodeo. :joy:

Sorry, it was another dead cat bounce take for you @AccountingPoke :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I googled this because I listened to a podcast about Stradivarius violins and how they were made of wood that was denser due to colder than usual temps in the 1600-1700s. The violins were made in the 17th & 18th centuries and can no longer be made because wood is different.

Anyway, my 3 min search shows temps have been recorded in England since 1690s and the modern thermometer was invented in 1880, which was when global temp records began.

But records go back further than England’s. Into the 1400s and earlier, but they are location specific, so less reliable for global records. We have pretty deep records to draw from though, like 500 or so years.

This is just quick googling, because I remembered a Throughline episode. I listen to nerdy podcasts while I walk. :woman_shrugging:

Neuschwabenland was tropical before we were around.

Exactly. You can’t objectively analyze this.

More of a business question honestly.

I got invited to a “power point night” by a friend, and I’ve decided to make a PowerPoint on how I believe OU either made a deal with the devil or has been using black magic to be good at sports. If anyone has examples of them having bullshit luck, or us being particular unlucky (squinky) I’d appreciate if you could share them.

that bedlam play, cant remember if it was 08/09/10 where bradford threw a pass that got deflected to a wide open jermaine gresham for a TD sticks out in my mind

@SherlockOhms ’13 Bedlam. Gilbert INT. Beating us with their 3rd string QB/TE and a WR who should’ve been ineligible.

The Brent Parker drop in 1988. The Chris Rockins off-the-face-mask game.

As someone mentioned, the tipped pass to Gresham.

The incomplete pass to Alonzo Mayes in 2000. 12-7 final. Would’ve taken them out of the Natty game.

Desmond Roland’s 80 yard TD being called back on the first play of the game one year.

The 11 steps with the ball incomplete pass that should’ve been a fumble. Can’t remember what year.

The list is endless. You have 90 years worth of heartbreak to draw from for your PowerPoint.

Outside of Bedlam, Baker showing up. Then Jalen. Then Kyler. Tech not giving Baker a scholly really f—ked us. I’ll think of more.

This one was so ridiculous.

Okay, you just had to drag me back in so here you go. My biggest problem with the Parker miss isn’t the Parker miss. It’s the horse-s**t PF call on Limbrick ON OU’s sideline that essentially resulted in the pass to Parker. OU player had him by the jersey and pads and drug him out. Absolutely pathetic. Thanks for getting my BP up.

Yep the one detail I forgot to mention: the Limbrick penalty. Good recall, 85.
