Ohio State Hires Away Oklahoma State Defensive Coordinator Jim Knowles

Your statement makes absolutely no sense. I’m not resorting to anything.

U asked why we were not investing I told u. Now u choose to deflect once again.

U just answer me. So u knew what it was about

Oh!! I thought you were referring to the “mom” part.

Why won’t you answer the other question?

So when we get 4-5 years down the road, and let’s say more money has been invested into football. When we are sitting around watching other teams play for conference titles, will that be Shrum and Weiberg’s fault? Or Gundy’s?

Who is obsessed with Baylor now?

I’m not taking those numbers as gospel much beyond the tiers they’re in, and in this case, that Baylor’s budget is in fact larger than just the Big 12 media rights deal, as you implied. Baylor being a private institution is going to be even more opaque than the others.

I highly doubt for instance that all of Baylor’s sports other than Football all spent exactly what they brought in. So I’m not going to get too up in arms over the exact numbers listed.

To the extent it’s real, it could be a small renovation of some kind that went on the books for 2019 rather than an ongoing additional 5 million they’re putting into the program.

At the risk of a fire storm I still don’t think Boyton can coach. I am and have been a season ticket holder for basketball. He has gotten by with talent playing street ball to this point. Look at the last two games. They played zone defense the second half of each game against us. This team isn’t a 3 point shooting team. They aren’t driving and shooting FT’s. Wichita put slight pressure in the back court and yet we never did once attempt to disrupt their flow to the front court.

They will make a bowl game without Knowles.Wanting anything more than that and they wouldn’t have kept Gundy the last decade.

I guess you’re right. My point is we could argue about who is going to be the front runner of the Big 12. I’m just saying it’s not going to be OSU. We could increase our football budget by $20 million and I don’t think it’s going to make a difference.

It’s the same excuses over and over again:

2011 “We want a Big 12 championship!!!” (He finally got one)

2013 “The teams here have been able to compete for a conference championship basically every year,” Gundy said. “This year we failed to do a good job of coaching. We got out-coached at the end of the year…

“This class, (combined) with the last class, should keep us on track to be talented enough, if we do our job as coaches, to compete for a conference championship each year.”

2020 “Consistency is better than championships”

2021 “If we want big time football. We need a bigger budget”

So what’s next?

I agree, I think he’s a great recruiter but I haven’t been very impressed with on court product. Like you said doesn’t seem to be a real game plan

Gundy sucks! Dunn sucks! Sanders sucks! Recruiting sucks! If he hires a DC from within he’ll suck also. Too many inbred hires. Any questions?

Yes I have one. Who sucks? I must have missed it.

He was a great AD for sports that contribute no revenue

So you think Weiberg and Shrum are going to increase the budget for football?

We shall see I’m sure hoping they do

Now that the uproar is quieted some, I for one actually want Gundy to promote from within. I know that this is questionable and not the ‘splash’ hire that would be the most politically correct. But, to elevate a current coach that was under Knowles would allow for some continuity of his approach and systems as well as his adjustments which were borderline amazing in second halves. It also breeds some familiarity with current recruits. jmho… :cowboy_hat_face: :cowboy_hat_face: :cowboy_hat_face:

Seems that our friend is very familiar with things ‘inbred’…

I really shouldn’t watch basketball as I grade on a very simple curve. 40% minimum from the field. 80% minimum from the line, a little lower from the bigs, a lot higher from the guards! I demand one offensive rebound for every turnover, so that I average one shot minimum per possession. …and for Pistol Pete’ sake, BLOCK OUT!! …not zone defensive rebounding, but block out your man where he is!! I don’t care if he shot from half court, block him out there!! Every time your man gets an offensive rebound from your zone or man to man coverage by crashing the boards unblocked, you win a seat on the bench to think it over. Block out drills would be ala Eddie at this point, put them in football gear and get physical!! Basketball is a simple game, really. When we complicate it or rely strictly on physical talent, we distort it badly and the records reflects it. jmho… :cowboy_hat_face: GO POKES!!

Eddie has to be flipping. I like Boyton but I stand with my original OP and don’t think he has been utilizing the talent he has on the team correctly.
