Morris welcomes Bedlam return “with open arms.”

Yeah that’s not going to happen for a while.

I really don’t care if we play them ever again or not. I know it’s good money, but also if I hear “money,” ever again in a college athletics conversation, I might throw up.

I’m more worried about not going 0-27 in the conference than scheduling OU again. Let’s try not to be the W on everyone’s schedule like Kansas used to be :+1:.

I’d be fine seeing them in the CFP for a couple of reasons. Otherwise I am fine riding the win in our last game till eternity.

Hey champ,

I hope he comes out and does well. There are reasons to think he’ll do well and some to think he won’t. I think he’ll come out strong in non-con next year and some reality will set in with the conference schedule, but I’m rooting for a quick turnaround.

Im very curious to hear the reaction from the OSU masses on this stance from Morris. I tried to tell you people at the time that Bedlam for OSU was a very, very good thing. And the minute he said he wanted to build a wall around the state in recruiting…I knew the “we want to play Bedlam” was coming as well. The man gets it.

Now that @heychamp is out of the woods…lets hear your take on his “illegal” hiring?

Oh, I know. Or I eventually just suck it up and stop watching because it brings me more annoyance than entertainment.

Get a trashcan pal because boy have I got something for you.

This is a bad idea for Utah. Desperation due to the success being had by BYU. This deal is as Faustian as it gets. BYU is trying to compete in a world where they cant.

I think BYU has the resources to compete. Now whether or not they can get enough kids to follow their dumb rules is another deal.

No youre right. I meant to say Utah is trying to compete in a world where they cant. BYU is going to be fine. But this deal by the U of Utah is bananas

They seem to be doing a pretty good job so far, and their coach isn’t going elsewhere anytime soon.

The only question really is if high level recruits are willing to deal with what BYU requires for their conduct stuff. I would imagine most high level guys won’t. But they definitely have the funding and coaching to compete.

I guess I’m confused; you acknowledge they have the funding and coaching to compete, and their record since 2020 (particularly the last 2) has been pretty solid except for a couple of years. What remaining ingredient do they need that I’m missing? Seems to me they’re either already getting high level recruits (maybe not a ton in terms of numbers), or they’re getting their kind of non high-level players and developing them well. Also, and I’m not totally certain about the validity of this today, but their team is normally pretty mature in terms of age and physical development because of the one-year mission requirement of the student. Don’t they normally leave, then return for a year or something like that? Regardless, I get your point.

BYU doesn’t recruit particularly well. I think them having a more mature roster helps cover that up but I am not sure they’re in the running for many high level recruits to really compete like a Texas Tech for example. Their extra requirements for students I would imagine is not appealing for most 18 year olds unless you are raised with that lifestyle.

So the nephew on my wifes side plays hoops at BYU. Now listen, hell never “play”, but hes a roster guy. They actually have a 2yr mission requirement, but they can get it reduced within some circumstances. Honestly, the restrictions on athletes are getting lesser and lesser by the year becuase the programs are wanting to compete with the competition. Its not near as tough as it used to be.

It’s a good sound byte and yeah it might happen. However, I don’t think it’s not going to happen for awhile. It took about a decade for OU and Nebraska to play a series after the Corn Huskers left for the Big 10. Using that as a precedent, that would mean a Bedlam series would occur around the 2033-34 season. Is Morris the HC by then? Who knows.

Of course, the comparison isn’t completely apples to apples so it might happen sooner, but I’m not going to hold my breath.
