Oklahoma State Linebacker Mason Cobb Enters Transfer Portal

You know nothing about his reasons for leaving, nor do I. He didn’t take a blood oath to stay at OSU until the end. He has a right to leave if he wants. Let me ask you, if Spencer was to transfer for his final year, would you feel the same about him?

Its rumored that a&m contacted him.

Knowless was not who recurited him. The ploy guy did.
Guy wasnt even an 85. So we made his name. These are things i know.
I hope he a&m have a bad time.

@NewPoke Yep we don’t know Cobb’s reasons for leaving but if they are for what is most likely the reasons then my comments apply. Now it is possible that everything internally at OSU has gone to s%$t and in that case perhaps leaving is the correct course of action. Ultimately we don’t know as Cobb didn’t give any reasons for leaving just the typical canned comments that just about everyone gives. As for Spencer he has paid his dues, dealt with a lot of adversity while staying the course and sticking with his scholarship commitments. In my book he has earned to do whatever he wants going forward.

Deion has a very steep climb to the P12 championship. Colorado is a dumpster fire.

The issue is that regarding the NIl there is no enforcement. Texas A&M is definitely breaking rules. I don’t think Shrum/Weinberg/Gundy are going to violate the rules.

There are very few rules now, so if we are too afraid to push the envelope like the other big boys, get used to mediocre years like we just experienced. Maybe worse. Bottom line, ticket sales will fall way off which will affect our entire athletic program

Push the envelope is one thing, breaking the rules is another. Texas A&M is clearly breaking the rules. When one school signs 7 of the top 14 DL in one class. I mean 3 can’t even start in that scenario. I’m not in charge of OSU administration but I would never want to see a Bayloresque win at all costs mentality in Stillwater. Many Cowboy fans think that OSU is the next Clemson, but we are not. Clemson has so many more built in advantages starting with they are the top program in their own state. OSU will never topple the Sooners in that regard.

It’s just a money grab. OSU doesn’t have the alumni or foundations willing to pay enough I’m assuming. Which is sad because until that changes it’s not going to matter how good we do or any of that kids are going to go where the money is.

This may be a stupid idea because I don’t how all of the NIL legalities work but if we are that hard up for money from our wealthy alumni and they’re not willing to donate to pay the players could the school or someone setup a public foundation that basically works as a subscription service. Then everyday fans can “subscribe” to this foundation for 100 dollars for one year and all of that money goes towards paying the players and gets distributed evenly to all players on the roster. I believe if my math is correct if you make “subscriptions” 100$ if 50,000 people “subscribed” which is roughly how many people our stadium holds that would be a a grand total of 5 million dollars. Now if you take that 5mil and distribute that to 100 football players that’s 50k per player. I could be wrong but I think you could get a lot of fans to give 100$ a year if they could actually see the results in recruiting and on the field.

Pokes with a purpose essentially does this.

With the portal being like free agency we are gonna have to find ways to get guys to stay especially our best players. Me may have to do what some of the big 10 schools is doing and give a cut of revenue. Times is changing regardless how anyone feels about the portal. We gotta keep up or get left behind. I have my feelings too about the portal but sometimes we got to bend just a little bit.

I don’t know until he gets there and I don’t know what kind of players he’ll get.

Could be wrong but Deion at CO sounds like throwing gasoline on the already ablaze dumpster fire.

Schools cannot give players a cut of the revenue that school produces from TV, ticket sales concessions or anything else. The NIL is designed for companies or individuals who pay them for a service. That service could be ambiguous as posting on social media.
OSU does give every student athlete $5,980 as part of their scholarship. That is the max. Any NIL money has to come from outside the school itself.

Deion and Colorado kind of balance each other out. He is just using this a step. In the old days i would think he could get some guys on his team. He did talk the number 1 play to go to a fbs school. He still needs the same thing gundy needs a good nil.
Guy makes a guaranteed 6k here. Tech baylor tcu its 25k. Texas is 50k for lineman. These are old numbers.

That’s the problem right there, we’re not even in the same ball park as these other schools. I’m sorry if you play another sport but football is what pays bills so instead of paying every single student athlete we should probably focus more on football players.

If osu could pay more then im sure they would pay more to the football players. But there max out at 6k. It our donors who need to pay the rest

I could swear the big ten is doing profit sharing or something along those lines.

Nevermind your right but it’s on the agenda just checked could happen soon though. I know I heard something about it happening or in the works very very soon.

I have some personal doubts on him winning a bunch of games at CU. I think he’ll be a great promoter and recruiter for Colorado. I sorta feel like he’s done that at Jackson St. He got some D1 players with better talent to go to his school. Over talented the rest of the HBCU schools. I just don’t think what he did at Jackson St is going to work at CU on a leveled playing field of other D1 schools. I don’t know if what I said made any sense sorta tired at work after spending all night at the casinos. I think he’ll bring in great or better talent but probably no Natty’s, maybe some bowl games, and conference championships with USC and UCLA gone. I wouldn’t made having him as someone who can build.
