This is OSU football. We don’t need a really good DC. We have a HC telling us how we build a championship program. Even though, for whatever reason it is, he only has one in 17 seasons.
Iowa State? Why are they clumped in there? And why don’t you just list the rest of the schools in America? You’re basically saying the only reason we look good is that the rest of the universe is bad? Please…
Why can’t you just say this, “You know what, we’re pretty stinking good whether I want to admit it - and enjoy it - or not!”?

The O-line was playing very well all season - relax. And this whole “shouldn’t Gundy be trying to help get better players” nonsense…what do you THINK he’s doing? Of course he’s trying to get better players. I realize you and joe15 are probably actually the ghosts of Tom Landry and Papa Bear Halas (look it up…) and know all there is to know about coaching. But, just in case you aren’t, here’s something to think about - coaching 18-22 year-olds is unpredictable and difficult and very few people do it - or have ever done it - with the long-term success as the coach you continue to whine about.

Why can’t you say that? All I know is when we get into year 20 with Gundy, in a new conference without OU, and we only have one conference title still. Are you going to come back and tell me it’s still worth it?
Now here is what I will say Gundy did do better with this team than I expected THIS SEASON anyway. So I’m a fair and balanced guy. I won’t totally chit on Gundy, but I think you also have to admit there is a problem there.
This guy is a former OC and the offense looks like total dog chit if they have one or two players go down. Look at how bad our running game looked with Godlevske and Warren not being able to play?
We have almost no quality depth at the RB, OL, and QB positions on this offense. If I were Gundy that would light a fire under my a55, and I would be searching for a quality QB and HB in the portal. Probably a quality lineman or two as well.
I would probably also suggest we stop running a high school offense and get with the times a little bit. I’ve given up on Sanders. The guy is just like his coach. Isn’t made for big-time games. We have two guys at the top of the QB position right now that are two different quarterbacks.
So what do we want to be? A running team or a passing team? If you want to be balanced then go find a kid that can pass, but also get you first downs with his legs when needed. We are wasting a championship-caliber defense because we refuse to develop players on offense and come up with better schemes.
If we’re still in the top 10-15 in wins nationally, as we are now and have been for a decade, yeah - it’s worth it. Of course we’d like to win more conference titles! Everyone’s trying to win championships. Not everyone does. Reality. Top 15 in wins for over a decade. Also reality. I get wanting to win it all, I do. I’ve been around this program for years and years. But, maybe you haven’t. I have no idea how old you are. But, Gundy’s built a brand. When he leaves - which I expect will be in 5 or less - this program will be in a condition none of us could have imagined in, say - 1985. When he leaves a quality name coach will want to come here. I believe that’s his intention. As for “a problem there” - have you heard how the national media talk about Gundy?! He’s very well-respected! People all across media recognize what he’s doing and has done. He’s the conference Coach of the Year, for crying out loud! Voted on by coaches - guys who KNOW! So, I’m sorry if I can’t agree with Blog-Poster Guys who insist there’s a systemic problem in our program when coaches and experts around the country respect Gundy and our program the way it’s apparent they do.

Okay. So what have we won beside one conference title and a BCS bowl game? That’s the point I’m getting at. You’re going to be competing against Baylor in the new conference from what it looks like (and maybe Cincinnati).
You really think some high-caliber recruit is going to give a chit about being top 15 in wins with no hardware to back it up? Baylor is going to get them, and so is Cincinnati because they have championship-caliber coaches.
We stick with the same coach who still has a big fat zero next to his name in championships the last 10 years and zero top 25 recruiting classes in the same time span. How do you guys not understand this?
Coaches- guys who KNOW, KNOW that Gundy has a OU problem and a conference championship problem and if when he leaves (if he ever does, Bill Snyder hung on like a cancer) even if you get a good coach it takes years to rebuild (K State) compared to leaving like Bob Stoops (but he can’t do that because it was a fluke that Gundy ever won the conference)
Some coaches play to win in big games others hope for a chance.

In 2005 who had the better program OSU, Baylor or Iowa State? Are we a better program now?

CLEARLY we’re a better program now - than 2005?!? That’s a goofy question. And yes, we’re still a better PROGRAM than either of those 2. Everyone loves Iowa St for some reason. They’re better - not where we are, but better. Big deal. That has nothing to do with oSu. Baylor’s better than they used to be, not great yet. They’re about where we are, I’d say…maybe closing in. It’ll be us and Baylor and probably Cincy fighting for the top in the New and “Improved” B12.
Listen, we lost to Baylor by inches and had 4 ints and no starting RB or center. They are not a better PROGRAM than we are. Not yet anyway. Keep your chin up, Sunshine!

We’re 11-2 and in the Fiesta Bowl playing Notre Dame. They were 9-3…thanks. They’ve been 7-6, 9-3, and 7-5. We are, in fact, better. That is all…

They lost the conference championship game to a team that they had beaten then went to the fiesta bowl and won. So we’ll see.

If Baylor has more conference titles and NY6 bowl appearances than us in the last eight seasons. Then how can we be considered a better program?
Recruits will look at Baylor, and know no matter who is coaching there will give them a better chance of being a champion, than say the guy at OSU that’s been there the last 10 years and hasn’t won chit.
