Ok…….try to follow me here. Kiffin GOT FIRED. Then, Oregeron WAS THE INTERIM HC. The term “interim” is sort of like a substitute teacher. So he was never in a position to be fired since he was never really the HC anyway. So they hired Steve Sarkisian. Sark kept the job until he got into some trouble alcohol-wise. So it wasn’t his on-field coaching that got him fired. It was his alcohol abuse. That’s when USC ended up giving it to Helton. Helton was the lucky beneficiary of the job, much like Larry Coker was. Like Frank Solich. Like Gary Gibbs. He’s the safe hire in that he’s already here & has paid his dues. So you give him the keys. Everyone knew Helton wasn’t the guy long term. Now that they have an actual AD, he’s finally decided to make a move.
The previous AD’s weren’t real AD’s. They were former players that didn’t know what they were doing. Now though, this guy is an actual AD.
