Canepa has started 14 games over the last two seasons.
Looks like a solid pickup
Got another OL portal addition:
I think so. Like his size if he can move
Solid pickup for sure
New Mexico State!!!
Idaho State, Saginaw Valley State, Akron, West Georgia, Central Arkansas, Weber State, Tulsa, OU Gundy never fails to impress.
I get it…but Jerry Rice went to Miss Valley St. Brett Favre - So. Miss. Good guys come from odd places. (See Leon Johnson and Jaylen Warren.) Let’s see how they work out…
GO POKES!
Did any of these ever win their conference? Is that not the goal?
Complaining about where a guy portaled from is a waste. You have no idea what circumstances led a guy from there to here and in between. The guy that just won the Heisman came from Jacksonville St. There are plenty of good players in the portal. There are plenty of bad ones too. You just have to weed through the BS. But with you implying that the bigger program means the better player…lets look at that. If a good player leaves a bigger program than OSU hes either A) A starter at that school and is leaving becuase he wants more money. OSU isnt paying enough to sign that guy. Or hes a backup that isnt good enough to play. Youd look at the stats and then say how hes not any good (Which is likely what you did with the OU RB who portaled). Or B) A starter from a lower division/caliber program that you would say is no good because hes coming from a lower division/caliber program that you feel is no good.
Do you think that applies the same with linemen?
The guy that was from Jacksonville State was also a 5 star recruit, and the #1 player nationally in high school. These things can easily be looked up on 247. Which is why AR and myself keep telling people that stars mean something. We’re not saying there can’t be good players from smaller schools. What we’re saying is that you have to obtain a collective talent pool at OSU if you want any hope of winning the conference.
Because Gundy’s coaching more often than not will get in the way of it all. If I go and get 15 players from the portal and 3 or 4 of them are better than expected while the others seem average, or not good enough to get on the field, then what good does it do? Now I’m back to finishing 9-3 and probably third in the conference at best. Hopefully this newly assembled coaching staff can prove me wrong. I would say being in a position like OSU you need at least 50% of those to be significant contributors just to possibly win the conference.
Woke up today and gundy still sucks!
Still sucking on that bottle jeffy ? Go back to sleep
Better the bottle than what you are sucking on.
Oh we know what you suck jug !! lol
Can’t say it here
Somehow deciding ON CHRISTMAS DAY to jump on the internet and post about Mike Gundy…is lunacy. Rent Free living at its finest
“The guy that was from Jacksonville State was also a 5 star recruit, and the #1 player nationally in high school” Thank you for explaining to me who Travis Hunter is…as if that wasnt a well known fact. “What we’re saying is that you have to obtain a collective talent pool at OSU if you want any hope of winning the conference” Needing a collective talent pool to win is required at every school. Thats not ground breaking news.
“If I go and get 15 players from the portal and 3 or 4 of them are better than expected while the others seem average, or not good enough to get on the field, then what good does it do?” Thats life in the portal. OSU has a smaller NIL bank account to choose from. Gundy & Co have plenty to be critical of. But expecting a guy to produce LuLuLemon profits with an Old Navy bank account is asking quite a bit. If you were running the show in Stillwater, given the current climate of NIL and the portal, how would you formulate filling your roster? You have budget constraints. Lets hear your solution? Im starting to see why a bunch of these posters are continually attacking you.
I never said it wasn’t. What I’m telling you is that a coach that’s used to snatching defeat from the jaws of victory needs some ultimate talent. The only time Gundy won the conference he had two first round draft picks the same year. He also had an OC that is now OC for the Baltimore Ravens.
The Mike Norvell solution sounds like a novel idea. Especially when you’ve just proven you can return the most production in the conference and still find a way to finish last . Also, even if Gundy were to get 10 mil a year in NIL. There’s no guarantee he would get what he’s capable of getting. This is one reason his recruiting budget was cut after the 2017 season. To assume in the era of NIL he would be any different is naive thinking.
Every coach who wins at a Conf Champ level needs “some ultimate talent”. Again, thats not a gem of genius on your part. Everyone knows that.
I need more specifics for your plan other than simply saying the name of a HC who went 2-10 this year & is 33-27 at his current school, while Gundy is winning 65% of his games.
How many actually waste it though? That’s the point I’m making.
Even coaches that aren’t winning 65% of their games in their career have proven they can win the conference. Dillingham is only in his second year as a HC and won the conference. I assume someone else will before Gundy does again.
