The Gundy era reportedly comes to an end.

Who is the interim coach??

Holy fck I can’t believe it.

I was for sure they would keep him until the end of the season. Maybe they really do care? So, 21 years and one conference title. I gotta know. Was it worth it?

Who’s ready for the Cale Gundy era?

No. Don’t even think it.

Yikes. I feel some degree of relief, but more sadness. On so many levels I wish it wasn’t ending this way.

It’s got to be Meachum right?

I bet they would’ve let him finish out the year if he agreed to make it easy but I’m guessing he wasn’t going to go out gracefully.

Wouldn’t be surprised if we start playing better.

Also where is @ar1 ? I figured he would be one of the first on the scene.

What, all you haters don’t have answers? Suddenly it’s now, “What do we do?” Be careful what you wish for. This a bad look for OSU. What coach in his right mind is interested in a position where the BOR has no clue and the AD is working without a contract (or might be out as well)? Gloat if you will, but the timing of this was a mistake.

What I want to know is what are you going to complain about going forward?

A coach that can see an older coach that’s washed up and outdated. A coach that isn’t blind to what the true issue has been the last couple of years. A coach that realizes the potential to win at OSU is there when you decide to not become complacent, arrogant, and stupid.

I figure if Kansas and Iowa State were able to figure it out we most likely will be able to as well. You guys act like we can’t live without him. When the reality is we’ve basically been dying a slow death WITH HIM since 2022.

You think I enjoy complaining? How about getting me excited about winning the conference finally?

Bittersweet for sure. I was 50/50 on letting him finish the season.

BUT… these kids deserved better than to play at a D1 school and not be able to compete.

I’m not saying we can’t live without him. I’m saying it’s a bad look to fire him now versus letting him “retire” at the end of the year. I agree it’s time for a change. This was just a crappy way to do it and it will sour potential replacements. This season is basically lost, anyway, and a mid-season coaching switch won’t fix that. Any incoming coach has to deal with this BOR and potentially a new AD. The alignment and stability of the BOR/AD/Donor/Coach team is long gone. We have people pulling levers that they need to keep their hands off of. I’m not defending Gundy. I’m saying the whole system is f’ed up and it will cost us potential replacements.
