Morris ranks fifth nationally in passing this season.
Where are all the big nasty OL and DL at? Go bid on some big ass dudes buried on SEC depth charts and get those dudes in here. We need a â– â– â– â– line than has a push.
I think the QB from Utah that beat us is also in the portal but this guy sounds like he is better.
Maybe Will Jados, 6-8, 307, Miami of Ohio
Alas, the concept of “Loyal & True” is dead in college athletics. And that’s very sad.
Eventually these NIL deals will start including commitment periods. I’d also like to see a “salary cap” implemented.
There don’t seem to be any rules right now and it’s absolute chaos.
With the Gundy contract restructured, the plan now is to rebrand the school as the Oklahoma A&M Aggies and play football as a Division II team.
Since the portal system is not mandatory in Division II, allegiance to the team is assured. No more fuss with money schemes to attract and retain talent is required. New rivals like Ouachita Baptist, Central Oklahoma, Kutztown, Slippery Rock are certain to excite the dwindling fan base and donors. A number of wins is likely assured. A few stellar players may reach NFL glory, as do some Division II stars.
The school’s current thought procession for hiring any football coach suggests the school is quite satisfied with anything marked down, bargain-basement.
As a premier light of brain coach and loather of sassy fans, Gundy is a perfect fit for this exciting quest into the dimension of Division II football. Students might find education fun again; XX sports might enjoy an exponential resurgence of fan interest.
Though not a god, and judged not quite obsolete by our exhausted leaders of the Board of Regents, Gundy says he is a man—an obnoxious and tired man best suited for Division II football.
Go Aggies.
Not so sure this helps us that much. If we’re getting less desirable players in the portal and not putting together a OL or DL as DickeySucksBalls suggested I don’t see the point. He’s just going to be running for his life because we can’t run the football. As of right now, he has no proven WR to rely on either. He also doesn’t even have a named OC yet. One thing I will say he’s better than Bowman.
We wouldn’t have wanted any part of Quachita Baptist or UCO this year…
Don’t you think he’d want to know what offense we’re running? Are we going Air Raid? Pro-Style? Shotgun Spread with QB run? RPO? Zone or Man blocking schemes? High level talent is going to want (need!) to know these things before making a decision. Heck, in Jados’ case, we still have the same coach who took an O-Line with 2 preseason Outland trophy nominees and turned it into the worst O-Line in P4 football. I assume that Dickey will eventually be replaced by whomever we get around to hiring as OC (sorry, but it won’t be Arroyo), but the guys in the portal today, don’t know that, and even if they assume Dickey will be replaced, they have zero idea of WHOM might be their next coach.
At this point, I’m resigned that every player we get in the portal, we will be their undoubtedly best offer.
BTW, I don’t really want Morris at OSU. Bringing in a senior for a rebuilding year makes no sense, particularly one with his injury history. It doesn’t set us up for long-term success, as those spring and fall reps need to be going to the young guys on our roster.
After a year in which the QB position was devastated by injury, the community gets frothing mad about signing a QB with lots of experience. Sounds about par for the course.
Correct, Most think that going forward in the next year or so players will be under contract. Also some kind of salary cap or budget high water mark needs to be instituted so that all teams have comparable finances. This is how the NFL works and if it didn’t the NFL probably wouldn’t exist at the high level that it does today.
Gundy’s comments about “experience” don’t always translate to actually being good. We experienced that with Bowman. Not saying Morris is bad or anything. Just saying without knowing what our offense would look like it’s tough to tell if he’d even be successful here. He’s also went all the way from OU to North Texas. I think he’ll end up going somewhere else though.
Yes, so lets go after a QB that’s been injured EVERY single year of his career. I’m not against getting someone in the portal. But I want to get someone we can build from. And experience is nice, but I wouldn’t trade it for fit. Bowman could play 7 more years and he still wouldn’t be a good fit for Dunn’s offense.
Also, I don’t want to bring in someone to become our starter, unless he’s got multiple years left. Otherwise, we’ll run off our depth in Maui or Zane and then be right back into the portal next year looking for a QB. I want our QB in '26 to have experience in our offense, rather than in someone elses. That’s experience that matters.
Why are interested, we got three guys who can play?!
How did that Bowman experience work out for ya?
He was also at TCU, you forgot?
So this guy, who ranks fifth nationally with 3,774 passing yards and fourth with 31 TD passes, is probably better than anyone in our QB room. At least he is more proven. I don’t see a problem with taking a look at someone like this who could give the team a big boost.
Pretty sure Morris ain’t Bowman
