The Heritage Hall product reportedly hits the portal.
It’s amazing how soft this generation has gotten when it comes to competing. NIL and transfer has softened this group so much.
et tu Freeman?

Not sure if that is what it was because there are too many like Freeman that have left, and even after they tried to stick around.

What are you trying to say? They wanted to stay but didn’t like the coaches or something else?
No idea - only conjecture, but doubt it’s the coaches.
DT Armstrong Nnodim hung around then suddenly left and is already heading for Penn State. Late entry Oliphant joins late entry Fields at KSU.
It appears something in the process is off. Perhaps because MG did not have a process for the portal, it seems off-putting to many players??? Again, conjecture. It may be my ignorance of the process?
I had in mind this article and then (HeeHaw reference) they were gone.

I’m guessing they didn’t like the NIL they were offered and got better offers elsewhere. And Fields is probably looking to be a starter while we have like 3 guys Morris brought with him at RB.
Three RBs from UNT aren’t coming, huh? Only RB Fields would have to compete with for RB1 is Hawkins.
But I find this one more weird than Fields leaving.
What happened that Freeman jumped ship ? Did we unload on the 4 major pieces from NT ? I hate seeing some of our leftovers leaving. Seems EM doesn’t want any left from the Gundy era
No clue. This seems like a perfect offense for a WR like freeman.
There’s Hawkins, the guy from JMU that used to play for NT and one other I thought. Maybe I miscounted.
I think Morris and his team are pushing them out and/or reducing their NILs. I don’t see another explanation. He’s bringing his own guys in and doesn’t want any of the old guard around.
I don necessarily know if that’s it. I think he realizes these guys coming in are better than him, and he would be better off at a place like Sam Houston State or something. It’s just the nature of the beast.
Neither would I. Especially when it gives you 4-20 and 0-18 in the conference for the last two years.
I can see that being true but cannot understand why that would be the strategy.

Another site said the strategy was to keep 30 or 40 and build from there. That plan is gone with the entries into the portal. The new gm had the best evaluation source in Coach Glass about the character of these players so what went awry if that was the original plan? Was money the main factor? Are there any players remaining from the core 2 years ago?

Some have suggested it was good to purge players because they had a mentality of losing. BS to that nonsense - the core that was here, until all the portal purchases last year, fought to the end. They are the ones that were under RG for 2 or 3 years, developing not only physically but mentally. Like that old Wichita State coach used to say - “Mental Toughness, Extra Effort”. It was not the players fault that incompetent wanna be coaches were hired off spurious internet searches, and failed to put the players in a position to win.
Hate what has happened to college sports and hate how players are treated under this system (talking about those like Fields that loved oSu and Freeman who was a legacy via his grandfather, and others that are not chasing every dollar they can get, which was probably more than is insinuated).
A new governing board needs to be created or the NCAA needs a total overhaul - especially purging those that lack character and honor, that attack some universities and pamper others.
Apologies for the rant - just sticks in my craw.

Install a NIL cap and require a one year sit for transfers. This is the most logical and reasonable quick fix. I don’t necessarily have an issue with paying players or transferring.
Hard NIL cap and allow 1 free transfer without sitting. After that you need to sit out a year with the exception of moving up or down a level from P4, G6, or FCS.
Actually proves my point. I wouldn’t have a problem with it, if this was his first transfer, but this kid is forming some bad habits when it comes to tough times at his “real” job in the future.
Then that’s his problem. Not ours, maybe his father should’ve done a better job raising him.
Completely agree!!! Never said this was our fault…I said this generation is weak mentally
I don’t think in baby boomer terms either.
