I have no problem saying he’s proving me wrong by going to Tennessee. What’s wrong with eating our words. But I will also stick by 99% of other transfers being afraid to compete. I think it’s a dumb move (just like I told Brandon Lloyd back in the day in basketball, that going to UCLA instead of an Oklahoma school…better to be a big fish in a little pond if you’re looking to get noticed). Would love for Freeman to prove me wrong and dominate at Tennessee, but the odds aren’t in his favor.

There are very few guys that roll in to a D-1 program without the expectation of having to compete for a job. No coach worth his salt paints an illusion of GIVING someone a starting job. Kids, parents, society, everything is a lot different than it was back when you and I played. That doesnt mean that 99% of kids are scared to compete. In full disclosure here, I dont “know” Gavin. But i have worked with some guys that work with him and from what ive been told from my people inside both strength staffs in Norman and Stillwater, the dude is a blue-collar worker. In the NIL era, hes the exception to the rule from what I have been told. If you want to say guys are entitled? Im with you. You want to say guys are selfish? Im with you. You want to say theyre bad teammates? Im with you. Saying theyre afraid to compete because they hit the portal? Thats just uninformed at best and ignorant at worst. With NIL promises, roster additions, coaches jumping ship…guys cant be loyal to a brand the way they could in our day. Extremely different landscape

I agree with most of your post, but these guys don’t want to compete. Yes, NIL has a big influence (which we all hate), but most of the guys that hit the portal (for a 2nd and 3rd school) are looking for an easier path. More power to them, but that is a character trait that says they don’t have the dawg (or compete gene) that most would desire. Gavin very much may not be that, but most are. Call it ignorant if you want, but I don’t hire people that have a resume 3 pages long.
Why do you continue to say guys don’t want to compete?? You transferred too! Why is it that you’re different??
Won’t miss him making a 13 yard reception and popping up to talk mess in the other teams’ faces. Wish him luck but not mad at all.

This is something I wont argue with. Its across the board. My favorite is when a WR drops a pass and the DB stands above him and does the seatbelt sign.

You know Ketchup that is one part of the game that makes me nauseous. They will be behind 2 tds and get up like they just won the game. Be like Barry , act like you’ve been there before. I know I know what you’ve gonna say that it’s just the way things are but I don’t like it. Sure celebrate when you score or win the game but this individualism irks me

I’m a baseball guy, and the way the game is played now makes me sick. I’m as old school as it gets. The neon colored cleats/batting gloves goes all over me. Wear the colors of the program/school you are representing. I don’t need to see you batflip over drawing a walk. Be man enough to not strike out. Football, a guy makes a tackle when he’s down 40 & celebrates. I hate it.
