Report: Oklahoma State Gavin Freeman Entering Transfer Portal

Where in the world did I say that Morris didnt want really good power 4 WR’s?? Oklahoma State has had 63 players enter the portal. To think that means they dont want to compete is idiocy

Did I name all 63 or just Freeman (and any other WR in previous posts)? He doesn’t want to compete in an offense that will produce 2-3 more draft quality WRs than going somewhere else. Defend him all you want, but he’s now going to his third school and leaving a WR friendly offense. If he’s not scared then we can definitely say he’s not too bright (but after all, he did get educated at OU for a few semesters).

No. You said a guy that youve never met, never talked to, know nothing about, hit the portal because hes scared to compete, even though he opted to walk-on out of HS rather than take a scholarship somewhere else. Walking on to a D-1 football program is about the most thankless thing to do in sports. You then said hes not too bright…based on going to a rival school of yours. Thats about all I need to know. Thanks for validating what I already suspected. Go Cowboys

If he was better he would still be there. He obviously knew he wasn’t. He wants to probably start, and that’s not happening with guys that have proven they’re better than he is. So he’s taking the next best option.

You have a bunch of guys that posted a 1-11 record this season. So yea, I don’t mind him having stuff his way. How many D2 or D3 guys have you seen him recruit compared to what we brought in last season? Think about that for a moment.

lol, choosing to walk-on at a school you grew up watching is what most of us do. I haven’t said anything about him choosing to walk-on at OU…never did anything except jab OU’s education (find a sense of humor while you’re trying to figure out how to justify your stance in this discussion). Him bolting a high powered offensive scheme and more than likely coming in as the top returning player (yes of all the returning players) and not wanting to compete is weak. I wish him nothing but the best, but he and most of the others are soft. If you support that or make excuses for them you’re just as soft. When I played, we were stuck with our decision/choice. Because the rules have made it easier for these guys to be soft, doesn’t mean you and I need to make excuses for that soft behavior. My son was offered a full ride by coach Gundy but chose West Point. Even though he grew up and OSU fan (knowing I played for Coach Sutton), he knew he wanted to make a real commitment. Even though he’s a WR playing at a run heavy school, his commitment and word go a lot further than trying to keep running from competition. So yeah, we believe in our word over here.

You know Gavin Freeman the way you know my cousins bhole. Transferring isn’t an indication of being afraid to compete. And no, most of us don’t choose to walk on at our favorite school. I went where my nest opportunity was, which was Nebraska. We had guys that stayed their entire career that were softer than puppy tirds, & we had guys that transferred out that were tough as nails….but wanted to play. To paint them all with one brush is completely uninformed. If you were in a locker room the way you say you were, you’d understand that.

Does anyone know if Gavin hit the portal because he wanted to or encouraged to go. I would have liked seeing him stay He was among about 3 guys that made a play last year

I do not KNOW. But these always go a multitude of ways. The position coach paints a picture that sounds like your PT is going to be a lot less. You can also paint the NIL restructuring to where your paycheck gets cut, which creates issues due to the player feeling like they’ve been misled by the program for what his “contract” was going to be. The nice term that they use is “processed”. These new coaches come in & “process” guys as opposed to saying they “cut” him. Before NIL/portal, you knew that if you kept your nose clean, made your grades, did the right things, you’d be able to finish your education on the schools dime. Scholarships were technically a 1yr contract, but schools/coaches never just told you to get out. Nowadays, that’s not the case. Coaches are so dependent on donor dollars, that you cannot be loyal to anything but your W-L record. A donor doesn’t care that you’re keeping this kid on even after he’s shown he can’t help. They want W’s. Everyone within the football program knows it’s a 1yr window. Players. Coaches. All of em. Coaches can’t wait for a kid to develop. Players can’t wait either. It’s dang sure not about scared to compete. It’s about it being the most cutthroat it’s ever been. Coaches have a portal window to fix their roster. They can’t wait on you, so they move on. Players have to think like it’s a business too.

Yes it would be interesting to find out what his situation is. Since he waited so long before entering the portal my guess is that he determined that he wasn’t going to get a fair shake at OSU for one reason or another and decided to move on. I could be wrong but it is a distinct possibility. Things like that happen all the time in sports and in the business/corporate world.

Buddy, I’ve been in a locker room at the highest level. Being tough is great, but transferring multiple schools is big check mark against you. If playing time is what you’re after and you have a top offensive coach coming in, the fear to compete against kids that know his system is there. You’re right, I don’t know Freeman at all…and neither do you. Feel free to look up the chargers and dolphins rosters from 2001-2003 if you want to do some research about my experience. I don’t say that to brag (after all it was mostly practice squad), but having played WR at that level…I’ve seen men that want to compete and I’ve seen those that are extremely talented but lazy. Freeman proved this year he can play, but as I mentioned before, any WR leaving this offensive philosophy isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed. Especially if your goal is to show what you can do and have stats that may help you get a shot at the next level.

Hey buddy……I did too  AAA minor league baseball is pretty similar to practice squad. Doesn’t make either of our opinions better or worse than the other. But saying a player who you have no knowledge of, especially with Freeman’s background, is afraid of competing…..is ignorant.

You talk like you know him…makes you just as ignorant

He committed to Tennessee just now. Leaves OSU cause he’s scared to compete. Commits to Tennessee……cause he won’t have to? Like I said…..you’re ignorant to the process.

And he is making twice as much money as he was being offered by OSU. The ignorance of Patrick is off the scale.

■■■■, you’re better than google

So he went to OU as a walk-on, foregoing scholarship offers to other places. He now has left OSU to go to Tennessee, who has as talented a WR room as you’ll find. Still gonna say he’s scared to compete? By your logic, by the things you’ve said on here, shouldn’t you now be in the middle of a backpedal? Leaving “a pass happy offense” at a lower school (your words) to go to a bigger one that has as full a WR as one can find…id assume that now hes willing to compete?

Ignorance will continue to double down

Agreed. @patrick0327 loved the Sexton signing, even though he left OU and came to OSU. Heres another nugget, our good buddy @patrick0327 apparently was himself a transfer back in the day. So im assuming he was afraid to compete too? Or not too intelligent? Or a Democrat?
