Report: Oklahoma State Hiring Doug Meacham as Next Offensive Coordinator

Wrong… He made this decision… why would you think otherwise. THIS IS HIS JOB, do not cut him any more slack.

What are your reasons? I think its an ok hire. I think Grantham is a terrible one.

OSU football coaching staff last season 14.8 million.
OU football coaching staff last season 15 million.
So where is the cost to much? Gordon got the same nil as Arnold at OU.

Obviously, we need to see what the portal department lands us, but I do not see this roster going over .500 next season. I would predict next year that we will struggle to go 4-8 and it’s Gundy’s last season. For crying out loud we play at Oregon next year. Sheeesh

A 32% pay cut is not the same for someone making millions. Normal people spend most of their money on mortgage/rent, food, healthcare, kids, cars and save what they can. Millionaires save or invest most of their money.

If Norvell is fired, then part of that blame will fall on Malzahn’s offense as well. It’s amazing how fans on here look at other schools differently than OSU.

Those “millionaires” also have spending problems but they definitely have egos. A 32% cut is a 32% cut.

No it’s not. There is a basic cost of living and sure, they will have more expensive houses, cars, clothes, but there is a tremendous amount of “blue sky” money. If they take a 32% decrease, they don’t go into foreclosure or have their car repoed. They might have to make a lesser choice on vacation destination but they are not deciding on whether to drive to work or take the bus.

I second the motion.

Although I would like to see Monken come back, he is currently making 3 mil and he’s also 58. What ever happened to everyone thinking JW Walsh would come back and take over?

No matter who it is, most will not take a 32% pay cut because they have a perceived value of themselves. That being said, Coach Gundy decided to not only stay now with a pay cut, but also didn’t take any other job offers over the past 20 years. He’s earned the right (all be it not recently) to be given this chance. I think the Coordinator hires are solid and once we get past this rebuilding year next year we’ll be alright.

Gundy is going to get fired next year after OSU goes 4-8. Book it.

If anyone expecting more than 4-5 wins has some crazy expectations. If he is fired, I will gladly say thank you for everything he’s done to get us back on the map. I personally don’t think he’ll be fired, but if we have a year like this again it won’t shock me. The wins might not be there next year, but the level of play and coaching should have a lot more  and effort.

Sure he did and I’m pretty sure at least Weiberg was involved in some capacity as well.

What makes you think that JW is qualified and ready to be OC at OSU?

The expectation should be well over 4-5 wins but Mike has failed to obtain young talent and most of the talent we had just graduated. That is a coaching failure. Our recruiting is not good. NIL is probably killing is but he wasn’t recruiting high level talent before that.

I get what you’re saying, but I meant a presser with Chad, Gundy, and chairman of BoR where the media grills them. And they are forced to explain how and why they made the decision to keep Mike. Without using the word: buyout. And how Mike plans on proving to us and his bosses that it was the right decision.

I think the real question is does anyone think Gundy will ever win the conference again? Or even make the CFP? Current signs point to a resounding no. If he couldn’t do it when Knowles gave him the 4th best D in the country I don’t think these hires are going to.

That certainly would be interesting to hear. On another note I would like to hear what the thinking and the process was for hiring the DC and OC. Who was involved in the decision making. Who was considered and why. Who was interviewed. Who was offered and for a bonus for those who declined what was the reason. Now we will never know this but it would be fascinating to know how things played out.

Absolutely pathetic!!!

In today’s college football world, I believe the 3 most critical requirements of a DC, OC, and for that matter all position coaches are the following:
1). Statically leading prior results delivered in the exact position for which they were hired…, requires 24/7 work ethic & extreme knowledge of the game with a style that the players identify with…
2). Young but with enough age to have clearly delivered #1 above
3). Can build a strong bridge with the players inclusive of having a personality such that the players will go thru walls for their coach

Dumby has totally struck out and the only saving grace will be another pathetic season that hopefully the BORs will fire his arrogant, sorry a_s!!! Hopefully mid-season so our backs won’t be against the wall like this year!
