It sounds like all things point to him taking a pay cut so he could come back and coach this team. That, my friends, is the opposite of ego and arrogance.

The mere fact that fans-players-boosters-journalist and administration, representing a very large base, have formed a collective opinion that is not favorable about Gundy ā¦ā should be enough evidence to show Gundy has a problem with relationships ā¦common sense tells you there must be some truth to it allā¦throughout his career he has had ābad momentsā with every type of stakeholder in the program excepting those who possess his same opinion(s). Really good leaders seek diverse opinions and acknowledge their roles in any bad outcomes ā¦traits Gundy has never demonstrated publically

Certainly there is a lot of negative commentary out there but there are no actual numbers to prove that the majority feel one way or another. Personally I think 80% of the negative is coming from a combination of keyboard warriors just saying stuff, weak people butt hurt over words, former players with a bone to pick, journalists making comments for clicks, et. al. There are some legitimate complaints for sure but the ones that are factual and really matter are few and far between.

Are you serious??? Youāre someone who obviously hasnāt paid attention to Gundyās history. If I go 3-9 (0-9 in the conference) I wouldnāt be surprised one bit if you want to cut my pay and put it towards trying to make the program better. Because Iām obviously not doing my job if thatās the case. It signals I need help by people whoāve done this before. Not some hacks with fake resumes that have never coached the positions before. You donāt have a guarantee of making a program better by hiring unknowns.
Defense- 125th (2023), 132nd (2024)
Offense- In the top 50 once since Dunn was hired
Special Teams- Not nearly as good when Ben Grogan left
Gundy has already expressed he doesnāt like NIL, Transfer Portal, and the biggest one overall would be CHANGE. His actions since the 2021 season ended have proven he has no desire to deal with any of it. Iām sorry, but just because you donāt like dealing with something doesnāt mean you donāt address the issue

Kenny Dillingham has done the EXACT OPPOSITE of what Gundy is doing. He just went from 3-9 to winning the conference. Thatās what 34 year old coaches do. They think in terms of TODAYāS CF environment, and they donāt continue wishing it was still 2006, and continue managing it like itās.
What you people need to understand is that Mike Gundy IS NOT OSU football. Heās a PART OF OSU football. You guys act like the program could fall apart without him. When thereās a very real chance it could fall apart WITH HIM. I would imagine Gundy was told:
āHey Mike, letās be real. We know you donāt like NIL and the portal. Neither do we. However, this isnāt changing anytime soon. We now have a 12-team CFP and would love to build our brand or ālogoā as you call it with this new opportunity. This could really put OSU football in a great position in the future. Weāve came up with a few ideas that might help you out. However, the model youāre used to knowing we donāt feel like isnāt going to translate very well.
We think if we could allocate some of the benefits youāre already receiving towards these places within our program we can at least be a contender on an annual basis for our conference. Just let us know what you think.ā
Maybe it pissed him off. Iām not sure. However, I commend the BoR for quickly addressing these issues. No more experiment hires and go find players in the portal to match your turnover.
Reality dictates that small budget school cannot do a $25 mill buyout and have anything left to then buy players. So Gundy held the best cards, and he knew it. Hurting the feelings of some fans with his comments is not grounds for firing. Unfortunately, this means OsU remains mediocre at best. The new DC is not a name brand coach. Another blunder by Gundy? But he has to be better than Nardo. Please teach pass defenders to look at the ball once in awhile. If Gundy earns more than $2 mill a year with new contract, itās robbery.
Gundy should have never promoted Dunn, period. Nardo should have been canned after last season. Gundy will be gone in 2 years.

Matt still has zero titles 
in 10 years. Since 2010 Gundy has had 8 10 win or better years. Three with 8 or better. Gundy hasnāt forgot football , he didnāt want to do the portal. Now itās sink or swim in the portal. If we donāt show drastic improvement he will be gone
I think the BoR approving a hire is so we donāt get another D3 hire
Rankings in high school recruits isnāt that big a deal cause most portal because of money

The portal is a fact of life. Iād rather Gundy sink in his own home than keep him so the program can go back to 3-9 seasons with his refusal to address it. It doesnāt matter how much football he knows if his team continues to suck donkey balls, and his coaches.
Dillingham just won the conference in his first year and only his second year as a HC. When did Gundy do that?

Just like Gundy owes it all to Ollie for getting him to the conference title game in 2023. The only difference between Gundy and Dillingham is that Dillingham can win that game. He doesnāt piss his pants on the sideline.
If Gundy is so intelligent he shouldāve known that once they announced four years ago that NIL and the portal were going to be a game changer. Instead, he said he didnāt want to change. It took the greatest coach in school history an 0-9 conference record to finally realize heās not the smartest man in the room .
I never said Zac would. All I said is that they would have to make it well worth his while to even consider it. However, if he did, Iām willing to bet he could win the conference more than once in twenty years.
I like how the Gundy fan boys keep saying itās only one bad season. Over the last three years, Gundy is 20-19 overall and 11-16 in conference games.

Yeaā¦.lets act like we didnāt go 1-5 in our last six games during the 2022 season, or that we just went 0-9 in the conference. Letās make excuses for why Gundy doesnāt want to do anything . Dunn shouldāve been gone after the 2022 season imo. Itās not like we had a top 25 offense in 2021 either.

Well letās just say it was one Very bad season that added 9 losses to the total. Thatās out of character all on its own. However if we donāt get back to competing at a hi level next year we OSU needs to move on to a new HC.
