Will Mestemaker join Morris in Stillwater?
Might be pricey! Morris’ QB in 2024 season, Chad Morris, told Coach, I don’t know what to do, Virginia just offered me a cool million! Eric tells Chad, you gotta take that!
Hate to say it, but these kinds of thing$ are gonna sour a lot of fans on CFB.
Agreed. This is all headed for a major collapse IMO. Donors will get sick of ponying up major cash in EVERY sport, only to have to do it again the next season, and again the following season. Fans are already losing interest.
Some college is going to offer this guy big bucks. Luckily the team down south won’t be getting him since Mateer is a junior.
Don’t know why he’d want to be part of OUs horrendous offense anyways.
Maybe a collapse and rebuild would be for the best. Too much power is in the hands of networks and P2. Too many things need overhauled such as rules and timing of portal, NIL, players opting out, bowls, playoff selection, etc. I don’t have the answers but as a once avid college football fan, I have lost most all of my interest except OSU and B12.
At least he’d be guaranteed one conference win every year.
Although having a relationship will Morris will get our foot in the door, I don’t expect him to come to OSU. He’s getting a bunch of offers with a lot money involved.
If I’m the kid, I’d want to be under the same HC whose offense seems to work very much in MY favor, but you don’t think that’s a big enough factor?
If i’m the kids parents i’m telling him, look, you can go get paid 3MM at tOSU or Oregon but look at how well this coach and his staff and system made you shine. If your goal is the league then maybe look at sticking with the coach that got you to the dance.
Eh… this feels like some orange spin. If he wants to shine, he can do that at Ohio State in front of the most people, win a nat, have every elite receiver he could want, and I think they know how to coach an offense up there. If he believes in himself, he knows he can perform well enough anywhere to get to the NFL, so might as well do it for the most money.
Completely naive take here. First off, Oregon and Ohio St arent going after him. Neither is LSU. But if they were, you would tell your kid to forego the guaranteed multi-million dollar contract, that has better supporting players, on teams that will guarantee you a chance to win…and go to a place that hasnt won a Conf game in 2 years, without knowing who your OL or WR’s are, and get paid significantly less? Boy that would be about as dumb of a business decision one could make.
I think this is going to be a Texas Tech or OSU decision. Maybe Miami gets in the mix, but they are going to have to miss out on a couple other guys for that to happen. Tech will offer him A BAG, & even though there is one poster on here who thinks Tech is somehow not overpaying, it will be more than anyone else will offer. But OSU will make a competitive enough offer that I still think he lands in Stillwater.
I suppose maybe both? You can still get a decent NIL deal along with the coach that’s made you better, and most likely will make you better to the point of being an NFL draft pick. I’d want to light up teams in a weaker conference anyway.
Indiana held them to 10 points. While Indiana is good, Ohio State has for the most part beat teams that aren’t that great this season. I’m looking at the competition on the other side. Do I want to try and shine against better athletes and defenses with possibly being a bust? Or do I want to light it up in the Big 12 and be a draft pick on an NfL roster?
The fact that someone is legitimately trying to argue that playing QB for OSU in the Big 12 is a better idea/situation that playing QB for Ohio St in the Big 10…is bananas. You are far more likely to get drafted by playing QB for Ohio St than you are at OSU. This is a ridiculous argument to have. Will Howard, Kyle Mccord and the list goes on with guys who were very, very average players that got drafted simply by riding the coattails of what is annually a crop of WR’s that are NFL talents.
This is a delusional take.
Yet my “delusional” in many things according to you has been consistently correct. All I have to do is wait for the results.
I never made an argument supporting an OSU QB over being at Ohio State. I simply said look at the opposite competition. It’s going to be harder in the Big 10 than the Big 12. That’s just a simple fact. Just like it’s been harder for Mateer this season than it has been at Washington State. Mateer was supposed to be a Heisman candidate and never got there. Perhaps take a look in your own backyard to see what I’m talking about.
Hey champ,
Will Howard did all right. Didn’t seem like he had any trouble.
If he gets good offers from Ohio State, Oregon, et al. I’m pretty sure he isn’t coming to OSU.
