Texas Tailback Ollie Gordon Commits to Oklahoma State

Hm well if it works it works! Like I said I would love better recruiting classes but I also know we have a horrible recruiting budget and who we have to compete with down the road. It’s unfortunate but it’s true. It’s not all on Gundy .

I don’t think it will work for everyone cause a Jalen Hurts is never coming to OSU but we do need to look at recruiting different and something needs to improve.

I can agree with that, also I firmly believe when fringe 4 star guy commits to the pokes his ranking immediately goes down. Do you think if Oliver committed to Georgia he’d be a 3 star? I don’t

Just the other day I think every recruit in the conference went down. That’s BS especially after a pretty good bowl season.

Yea it definitely pisses me off, especially bc like the day before he committed or something he got bumped to a 4* and now he’s barely in the top 400

Two days ago Queydarius Davis that just signed with Kansas was .9484 today he’s .9374

His recruitment has been as wild as camar wheatons in my opinion, then he decides to go to Kansas? Something must be up with that guy to go from usc and Texas then ends up there.

I think USC is a dumpster fire but Kansas is strange. Les always seems to get a diamond every few years. Like the honey badger.

I mean Kansas is a dumpster fire to lol there’s a big difference in LSU and Kansas

We always see articles about how Gundy turns three star recruits into four star recruits. Well guess which teams are turning their four and five star recruits into five and six star recruits? If Texas isn’t doing that and still finishing along side OSU or a little higher in the conference standings it tells me they aren’t doing a very good job of developing the talent they have.

You still have to have a coaching staff to develop these players. Look at Spencer Sanders for example. He was a four star recruit and the 6A Gatorade High School Player of The Year in Texas. He’s been here for three seasons now. Why does he still look like a true freshman on the field?

Despite seeing what we have in him Gundy is going to ride him all the way to the Independence Bowl of his senior season. Illingworth will probably hit the transfer portal (another 4 star recruit) and we get to see Shane Bullock or Gunner Gundy taking the snaps for the team. Hard to develop your higher caliber talent as well if you don’t keep them on the team.

We won’t know if this will happen if we keep refusing to let a coach go that’s publicly stated that three mediocre seasons in a row is better than a conference title appearance. Sorry if I don’t believe Miami was the most SATISFYING win in the Gundy era.

So it’s Gundys fault sanders hasn’t translated to the college level as well as expected?

Sanders got this team about as close to a conference title as any other quarterback since Weedon. Gundy’s won 1 conference title in 16 years, it hasn’t always been Sanders fault.

Who said it was sanders fault? Oklahoma state hadn’t won a single big 12 title before Gundy? :man_shrugging:

Since he’s been the coach over 60%of the life of the conference maybe he should have started a tradition besides surrendering to OU.

You see. Your one of those old timers that says “It used to be worse” and are satisfied with the current status quo over the last several years instead of trying to improve the program.

So how did you feel about the Pat Jones years? Because essentially what we have now is a Pat Jones disciple. A guy that gets lucky if he can even beat his rival and finish higher than 3rd in the conference.

I guess I’m just trying to see what you find so successful about this over the past 16 seasons:

  • 1 conference title (6% success rate)

  • 2 bedlam victories ( A 12.5 % success rate)

  • Two 2nd place finishes or higher ( A 12.5 % success rate)

  • No conference title appearances ( A 0% success rate) if you want to include a defacto title games then we are looking at a (25 % success rate)

  • 1-3 as a favorite in bedlam ( A 25% success rate)

  • Projected conference finishes ( 37.5 % success rate) started 5-2 his first seven seasons and has went 1-8 since then on meeting the projected conference finish.

So I just don’t understand why you want to continue holding onto someone that doesn’t have a very good success rate in these categories and has gotten worst since 2011 in the coaching department?

That’s just a joe response. Captain obsessive.
U talk about my intelligence. Repeating joe is not showing any.
Everyone knows better recruits mean better teams.
Unlike u I do not think there is enough fairy dust to bring that many recruits to Stillwater.

Lol I’m 30 dude not an old timer just a realists

I’m 36 so I’m not an older timer and a realist as well. Don’t you want stuff to be better than it’s been the past 9 seasons now?

Exactly. So let’s start recruiting better than 37th out of 65 P5 teams so we can actually meet our preseason conference expectations instead of consistently not meeting them. Do you agree?
