The Top 5 Quotes from Mike Gundy's Post-Colorado News Conference

Gundy discusses what needs to change moving forward.

“I’ll be real honest with you — I’ve been real honest with you this year. You should be very appreciative of that. Most coaches that’ve had a year like this wouldn’t be honest with you.”

This fxcking guy. Patting himself on the back while continuing to blame the transfer portal instead of taking responsibility or holding his staff accountable that makes about $5M combined.

I expect us to $uck the rest of Mike Dumby’s tenure as HC. He lost this team and he lost a lot of his support w/ his wack remarks about the fanbase. He can suck rocks.

“ Gundy said. “Two things that are different is, one, you’ll have a lot in and a lot out with the portal and all the stuff going on. So that’s a little different. It’s been two years now that we’re kind of going through that.”

Dude……he returned the second most starters in the country. How does that exactly correlate to his coaching staff’s (and his) inability to adjust to new things? Maybe if he’d actually change and not make his dam offense so predictable he’d be at 6-6 and not 3-9. Even then, it’s been an absolute coaching failure and you can’t blame the portal for this season. If Arkansas doesn’t beat themselves he’s only looking at an FCS and G5 wins.

Maybe if you were returning only 10 starters and you got mixed results in the portal I could see it. Not for this season though.

“We won’t change…”, Dumby

“It’s a different challenge, but we won’t change … that’s a great question,” Gundy said

This is all anyone needs to know as long as his sorry butt is around, OK State football is doomed!!!

Fire Dumby’s butt now!!! Get his butt out of here now before he takes us any lower!!

He’s in his feelings about the portal. That’s his scapegoat. Has been for 3 years now. I don’t like it either but that ship has sailed sir. Get with it or get out. Maybe to your “farm”.

In need of psychotherapy for a phobia of change?
Change or retire, your choice Gundy.
Who taught our secondary to never turn around to watch the ball?
Gundy thought our defense was good. I guess Nardo is a keeper and Gundy is more than phobic, he’s in need of an eye exam , or else he is delusional.

Most everyone is lost and not motivated that stands on the OSU sideline. Gundy has lost his leadership skills and the respect of players/coaches. The team walked on him two years ago. He is arrogantly confident but the fans see a coach in a sharp decline. Too many common sense things not happening to make the team better this season. He needs to read these blogs to get some ideas of what went wrong this year. I saw two good head coaches actively strategizing and interacting with players/coaches during the GA. vs GA. Tech game tonight, a good display of leadership. We are far from what those two teams bring to the table.

I’m actually kind of interested to see how many players go into the portal. I think it’s going to be a lot.

There are two big question marks for me a third was answered by the fact that OSU still has a Head Coach on Saturday morning but the two that remain are 1) How many players end up in the transfer portal 2) At what point does Weinberg or Shrum step in to make changes since Football is traditionally a large revenue generator for the school because if Gundy is around next year I expect attendance and donations to go down too.

Did I hear him say “the defense played pretty good today” I can only assume that was a compliment to CU. LOL

Like his kid did a year ago!

He tried saying the defense couldn’t stay off the field. Well……the difference in time of possession was less than 5 minutes. Which tells me that Colorado at the most got two more possessions than OSU could’ve had. The defense was just flat out terrible. I’m sure the 147 total yard by the offense didn’t help, but it’s not like Colorado had the ball for 40+ minutes.

Near the end of the debacle yesterday in Boulder, my wife (who is Alabama grad) was actually watching the game. I had long since given up and was mowing the yard, I came inside and she commented that it looked like Gundy might be ready to cry while he was standing on the sidelines. I explained to her that it nothing to do with the football game but the fact that Gundy can’t sell his $8 million “Redneck Lodge” on the westside of town. He may end up with a big buyout from Weiberg but be stuck with the largest and ugliest house in Payne County and not be able to runaway.

I have no problem with Gundy coming back next year, but the coordinators have to go. Dunn has proven he isn’t an OC and Nardo just wasn’t ready.

I think that monstrosity sold somehow.

“But I need to evaluate what I’ve done and what I could’ve done better. And what role I played with this season, to see where it starts with me."

I could be wrong but this is the first time all season that I’ve seen him remotely take any responsibility for what has occurred this year. He won’t be fired but every other coach needs to go, and he needs to be forced to hire an FBS OC and DC that are not in over their heads. And no, Knowles won’t come back. And no, Monken and Holgerson aren’t coming back. Neither is Zac Robinson. People need to get real. We need young, hungry, but somewhat proven coordinators. And we need to pay them.

Might have a shot at Knowles because I think there is about a 0.1% chance Ryan Day survives after a 4th Michigan loss in a row if he doesn’t win a Natty this year.

We should be going after the SMU OC and the DC from Northern Illinois.

Serious question: How is he still employed? Does anyone seriously think he’s going to turn things around? It’s not happening.
