Three Thoughts on OSU, Gundy Agreeing on a New Deal

I’ve never had that issue. So I’d have to say no. I’ve always tried giving people the benefit of the doubt until they either say and/or do otherwise. I like to take the “Be wise as a serpent and gentle as a dove” approach in my responses.

Donors are NEVER the problem. Poor leadership of those Donors can be an issue. You need Donors, more now than ever. They werent the problem in College Station or Austin. Poor coaching hires and AD choices. The same donors are in both of places now and the ships seem to have been righted…because theyve made good hires as HC

Agree completely. People don’t understand that it’s the donors who will mainly decide what goes while NIL and the transfer portal are in place. People (like Michael13) don’t seem to realize that the donors will have the last say if you want a program to remain relevant. It won’t be Shrum, Weiberg, or even Gundy. They don’t realize how much influence and power they actually have on decision making.

Donors should never decide what goes on. They absolutely get a seat at the table and have some influence. But you get your program headed in the wrong direction when you let those guys hire and fire your coaches. I get what youre saying, but your AD/Pres had better be where the buck stops. The Donors are extremely important. But they cant be making your decisions

Exactly, guess what happens frequently when a HC is fired? The rest of the staff is kicked out as well. If I was offered a coaching job by a HC whos BOR has clearly and publicly put on the hot seat I would think twice about taking that offer.

I’m not saying they should make the decisions completely. What I’m saying is they are an important part of the process. Hiring D2 coordinators, getting players from Piss State, returning the most starters in the conference and getting 0 wins. At some point the donors suggestions need to be made a reality.

The donors and a majority of others didn’t come out and say anyone needed to be fired (except maybe Dunn) last season after that South Bama debacle. When you go winless with a team that was supposed to be a conference contender? Then you’ve got more than just a coaching problem in your hands. Even though I think coaching was the largest problem this season.

So you want to hold onto a majority of the coaches that weren’t any good? We just had the worst run defense in school history under our new DL coach.

Tell me what Dunn, Nardo, Dickey, Rattay, Randolph, and Tim Duffie have done so far that’s impressed you so much?

Are you saying that the Donors are responsible?

No, the donors aren’t the ones coaching, recruiting, and developing the team. Also, Gundy has proven in the past even with the sources he’s been given he doesn’t go after much of the best talent. He goes and offers some player from Piss State or Utah Trash that’s not going to contribute a lot. He also pissed Boone’s donation down the drain. Why would you give more resources to someone who’s proven they know how to waste it?

He fired our DL coach who’s actually sent kids to the NFL, and then hired a dude from Indiana that gave OSU it’s worst rush defense in school history. He returned the most starters in the conference and didn’t win a single conference game. People can keep talking about his past success if they want to. The reality is that he’s getting worse, and he needs saving from himself. That’s where the donors come in. Gundy’s now been given enough to turn it around or hang himself with it.

Had Gundy been 11-2 and not won the conference and barely missed out on the CFP I highly doubt this meeting would’ve occurred at all. However, like most of been saying for years now, Gundy wasn’t willing to address his OC issue in 2022 and he tried an experiment with his DC. Which many people said would come back to haunt him. Well, it did. He also was never a big fan of hitting the portal either. Which he refused to do after the 2021 season. The reason for the meeting was to let him know HIS MODEL was outdated and that he better deal with it.

The donors would’ve had absolutely no reason to think that a team returning the second most starters in the country would go 0-9 in the conference under the best coach in school history. Even I didn’t think they could accomplish that. All I know is the last thing I’d be doing after going winless in a conference absent of BB schools is pissing of my fan base, donors, and administrators.

Hey champ,

It’s more of a “dumb as a rock, stubborn as an ass” approach that you take.

I’m not the one naive enough to believe a starting QB from another school plans on coming in to be benched :man_shrugging:.

Hey champ,

I don’t think he expects it, but it literally happens every season. Veteran QBs come in to these programs and they don’t start. I’m sure he’d be given an opportunity in the offseason, but he’s not getting a Jackson Arnold promise to start. He’d have to earn it, but you know what we could’ve used last year? Grabbing a veteran QB in the portal that way we’d have a guy to put in when Bowman faltered and Rangel got hurt.

I’m glad you’re all in on hating this visit, though, so when we don’t get this guy, it’ll be the one time in history you don’t moan about Gundy not landing a recruit or portal target, so there’s always a silver lining.

Tell me how many veteran quarterbacks are going to come sit on the bench happily in Stillwater, OK? Again, you’re speaking out of your own delusion. We’re not Bama, Ohio State, or Michigan. Nobody that’s worth a dam is going to come in with the expectation of competing with a freshman and a sophomore that’s not stepped on the field yet. I GUARANTEE YOU if Morris ends up in Stilly he’ll be the starter day one.

I’m not hating on Morris. I think he has A CHANCE to be good. A lot of that is going to depend on who’s on his roster and if he gets a retarded OC or not. Also, take into account the competition he faced as well. You’re still not getting it. Gundy rewards experience and seniority. He doesn’t make decisions based on talent and potential. Even if the latter served him better. His QB decisions are living proof of it. Also, Gundy has a lot more to worry about in the portal than just a QB .

Hey champ,

The stupid just shut down my brain, I just don’t have it in me to tackle this level of dumb point by point right now. Just rest assured you’re wrong about everything. You won’t understand my corrections anyway.

The fact you think a starter is fine with being a backup if he transfers is more than enough to discontinue such a stupid point. I totally agree with you.
