Defending everything OSU doesn’t allow OSU to grow Roberto.

The best way to secure the TV audience is to play all of the non-con against Power 5 programs going forward. No more Missouri state. Nobody wants to watch it on TV let alone show up at the stadium (except die hard Okstate fans). Line up big name Power 5 teams and the TV audiences will be swelled. That will get OKstate the numbers required to get into a another conference when Big 12 dissolves.

Not just OSU. All of the P5 should not be allowed to play FCS schools. It is just not entertaining. Unless you’re Kansas or Vandy, they’d make it interesting. P5 should only be allowed to play FBS.

That’s not what Gundy wants though.

Gundy understands that he wont have a job at OSU with $5 million per year if OSU does not land in a Power conference. He has already admitted that TV money decides everything in the end. So he has grown to understand what is required and Alabama being scheduled for 2028/29 is a reflection of the same.

I’ve been saying for a few years it that it sure would be nice to play Michigan in a non-con. They are a big name that would have still been a likely win in most any recent season. There are a few teams like that which I think we could compete with. Tennessee comes to mind also. We did play Florida State a few years back.

Unfortunately, for the PAC 12 and B1G, it’s also about culture and academics. In 2010, the PAC 10 was willing to overlook OU’s, OSU’s, and TTU’s academics if doing so would land UT. Now that UT isn’t part of the package, our academic and cultural profile will keep us out. We need to focus on SEC membership. As you correctly point out, Kyle, we have a successful athletics program and a passionate fan base, even if it’s regional.

Something that I have been thinking about for a little while, as this realignment stuff plays out in what feels like slow motion and the prospects for finding a decent new home seems to get worse as the weeks roll by, what are the chances that we start to see some of the B12 coaches bailing for greener pastures? Matt Campbell comes to mind. Given his success at Iowa State he is currently a sought after commodity, given the outlook for the B12 I would think his desire to stick at Iowa State would be diminished for a number of reasons. Beyond coach Campbell could we see an exodus of coaches from the B12 in the next year or so and how hard do you all think it would be to replace them given the state of the B12?

Good point. Any replacement will be tough until something is set in stone. That’s not to say that replacement might not be in the best interest of the school.

I think the late 8 from the Big 12 need to be talking to teams in the AAC about possibilities and think outside the box about TV deals. Go talk to Amazon.

Yes I’ve thought about. Mainly Campbell but I think alot of people have been waiting for him to go any way.
But the others will still be in a better spot then their last gig.

Now that I think about it, Campbell is the only coach of the remaining 8 who is making large positive strides the last few years.

U mean ur not putting gundy in with Campbell.
I dnt even put gundy and patterson as guys moving on.
The other 5 will be like any other g5 coach. When they get the call they will go. More will be fired then move up.

I don’t know why a coach at Kansas, Kansas State, Texas Tech or West Virginia would be fired? None of them were handed a program in good of shape as Gundy and we’ve kept him around for 16 years just for one frigging conference title.

With everyone worried about money alot of coach will hold on to their jobs.
Ar0 u just throw out :poop: there are real issues out there.

Campbell stuck around for this year because of the roster he’s got. Preseason consensus top 10. He will be gone after this year. I’d watch out for him at Michigan.

They just extended Harbaugh at Michigan this off season and I think ISU extended Campbell too. Would cost Michigan a ton of money cause I don’t know if there are many teams that can afford his buyout that actually want him.

I dnt think Campbell is sexy enough for Michigan.
Everytime u see people talk about who could replace harbaugh Campbell is 3rd or 4th. He has problems beat in state schools.
I feel he may not want Michigan. It’s been the Texas of the north for coaches.
