I think at some point it would. If you could offer a ridiculous amount of NIL to kids it may not matter who was coaching. Kids and parents will chase the money.
Completely agree, but I don’t blame the players that take the field. Bowman, as shown by his warming the bench at Michigan, may not be a P5 level QB. But with this coaching staff who can tell? ASU isn’t playing more than a handful of guys who would start at P5 schools, yet they looked like a cohesive team. The only thing I see consistent with this team is that when Bowman is in, we’re gonna call 80% pass plays, and when Gundy is in, we’re gonna hope that his legs can convert 3rd downs for us (sounds like last year’s offense).
Finally, end the rotations. We are paying $10M dollars in coaching salaries to individuals who are unable, 3 games into the season, to build a two-deep roster. And its not just one position. We can’t pick a #1 RB. We can’t pick a #1 X, Y or Z WR. That is coaching malfeasance.
Gundy doesn’t want players who will chase the money, because if they perform, he believes they’ll chase the money elsewhere. Which in reality tells me how much HE really believes in the culture of the team and program.
I have an idea… if we lay a stinky pile again next home game against KSU (which seems likely right now) the entire student section should show up to the KU game with brown paper bags over their heads like fans used to do in Detroit…
I’ve always supported Coach Gundy when others are calling for his head. I’m not sure I can anymore. There is no fire and no passion to be successful. He needs to immediately fire and/or demote Coach Dunn. Get back to the “mullet days” and let’s get some energy. If you can’t make these Cha yes right now, then unfortunately I don’t feel he should come back next year. We have let too many great offensive minds leave. This is just unacceptable.
I will be moving my annual donation from football and splitting it between track, baseball and softball.

It’s been good, not great. If we weren’t all anchored to how awful the program has been historically, we wouldn’t revere him in the slightest.
And, because of the timing of it all we will never know who is actually more responsible for OSU’s ascension into relevance - Gundy or T Boone.
Been an a Cowboy fan for 50 years. Losing to a Sun Belt team in this manner is unacceptable. Sad to say that this will never change. Coach had to wear that stupid OAN t-shirt. A mistake like that will be used against him on the recruiting trails forever. Time for Mike to go I am afraid. And at one time he did a a real good job. Oh well, stupid politics.
Is it worth mentioning that ESPN no longer predicts OSU into a bowl game this year. I’m wondering if we’ll get the #5 slot of the Bottom 10 rankings this week. It would be deserved.
The OAN shirt was three years ago. It has zero bearing whatsoever on Gundy’s stubbornness or arrogance or complacency with this coaching staff or desire to see this team improve this season.
But it does demonstrate the complete generational disconnect that he has with his players, and his response to that controversy, as well as a number of others, was rife with arrogance.
By the way, in a number of prior threads, I’ve compared our offense to Del Miller’s “Super Secret” Offense from '99. After Saturday’s debacle, its clear I owe Del Miller an apology.
