10 Thoughts on Oklahoma State's 33-7 Loss to South Alabama

You’re absolutely right.

The thing that people do not understand is that at the root of the issue is simple fundamental fact. Gundy was able to transform the football program and get it headed in the right direction. The issue is that he hit his ceiling 10+ years ago that was as good as he will ever be. He is getting passed by younger and better coaches because he doesn’t know how to adjust and get better. It isn’t his fault, he just isn’t capable of doing more. We are completely behind because Gundy was only able to keep his head above water long enough to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes. Now, he is completely exposed and laughing all the way to the bank while making over $500K per loss. Something happened a few years ago and there was a noticeable change in Gundy’s demeanor on and off the field. He changed to a complete slug on the sidelines, lost his passion and energy, and it translated to the product we are seeing today. How many years do we need to be “outcoached” and “less prepared” than inferior teams? Gundy is in way over his head. He needs to go.

It’s sad that a punk kid got his feelings hurt by a shirt. And Gundy played it like the bittch he is. I would have told Hubbard to take a hike. Lost all respect for Gundy after that. ALL respect.

You are missing nothing. I have been saying this for 5 years.

He will be making over a million dollars per loss by the end of the season. Where do we find 4 more wins on the schedule? Iowa States offense may be incompetent but their defense certainly is not. We couldn’t score on one of the worst pass defenses in the country and we aren’t gonna be able to in Ames. If they squeak by ISU the only other games I would say you maybe have a coin flip chance of winning is Houston and Cincy for homecoming.

So do you think the OSU football program would be in BETTER shape if Gundy had told Hubbard “to take a hike”?

OU was in no way in a similar sport. In 2014, they went 8-4 in regular season with losses to a ranked TCU, KSU, Baylor, and then an OT loss to OSU because Bob was dumb enough to punt again. They did not get dominated by a Sun Belt team. Their offense averaged 34 points and that includes a horrible bowl loss to Clemson. In fact, except for the losses to Clemson and Baylor, they scored over 30 points in every game. Unlike, OSU and Mike Gundy, OU and Bob Stoops had a standard of excellence where 8-5 and 34 point average was considered unacceptable.

One of those players who shouldn’t be at a P5 school is named Gundy.

It was a sign, though, of Gundy being out-of-touch with his players and too comfortable with his position. These are the same things that are causing the wheels to fall off the bus today.

How did Gundy’s handling effect their W-L record? How did his handling of Hubbard effect his approach to the the transfer portal? How id it effect those players transferring en mass? How did that effect Gundy’s stubbornness in retaining Dunn as the OC? How did that effect his ability to not have a QB in the locker room? How did that effect his handling of Spencer Sanders that resulted in him leaving?

Because Gundy is a grown man and can wear whatever shirt he wants to when he goes fishing. Apologizing to a whiney baby shows complete weakness. It has translated to the poor performance and attitude on and off the field. SHUT UP AND RUN THE BALL.

That’s an incredibly stupid take. One of Gundy’s biggest issues is that he doesn’t relate well to his players. I’m sure telling a Black kid to take a hike because he was offended by Gundy’s support of a radical right-wing “news” network would’ve been a real good move. Lots of recruits would’ve lined up to sign LOI after that. You’re more out of touch with reality than Gundy.

Well, luckily that is your opinion. And, I have mine.

And, if you haven’t been paying attention, Gundy has been losing more quality players than he has been gaining. Sounds like it is pretty much a moot point. At the end of the day, Gundy is still Gundy. An overpaid, average coach at best.

This is one of the dumbest, most uninformed takes you can have.

Shut up and run the ball?! Yeah, this generation of athlete has the awareness to tell that coach, “Find another RB, I’m out.” and will go play for a team with a head coach who is smart enough to never say that kind of thing to his 2000 yard back.

OPEN LETTER TO COLLIN OLIVER!!! (…others as well, I suppose.)

Dear Collin,

Suffice it to say that the crowd deserved far better than it got on Saturday night. But, young man, so do you!! I am an oSu alumnus from the eighties, so I do tend to bleed orange and black in college athletics. I hope I speak on behalf of most of the oSu faithful when I invite you to hit the transfer portal and have my full support in spirit. You should be playing somewhere, anywhere… that coaching decisions and schemes are about winning games instead of trying to prove points. (i.e. Gundy makes good hires, the run game has to be established, etc ad nauseum) All that our coaches have established is a sense of moronic pride in being very bad at this, at this point. If Nardo and Dunn are still employed, then it is Gundy’s bobble head that should be on the chopping block.

BEST OF LUCK IN YOUR FUTURE ENDEAVORS, but do yourself the huge favor of endeavoring elsewhere young man, asap.

go pokes… :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

Nardo gets a pass from me but the rest is pretty good. The only thing I would say you are missing is encouraging them to sit out and redshirt to save their eligibility from this staff of football terrorists.

This offense looks like a baby that was made by Bob Simmons and the old Kansas offense. Totally inefficient and careless. Still waiting for Dunn to pull out the playbook that the coaching staff seems to have lost somewhere in BPS.

Bob Stoops fired his national championship QB as the OC and took a chance on a guy from East Carolina that is now coaching at USC. Gundy can’t get anyone to come take his WR / Pretend OC off his hands. We used to not have a problem getting OC’s poached from us for HC gigs or OC opportunities at better football programs.

  • We’ve haven’t had a top 25 recruiting class since 2011.

-We’ve only had on OC since 2018 get an OC gig at a blue blood.

  • We’ve only had one DC get poached by a BB from us in Gundy’s entire career.

  • We’ve had four OL coaches since Wickline left.

  • We’ve not rushed the ball for over 5 yards per rush since 2019 when Hubbard was here (Wickline’s first season).

  • We’ve not had an NFL caliber QB since Rudolph in 2017

Why have we all of a sudden decided that being average is as good as it gets?
