10 Thoughts on Oklahoma State's 33-7 Loss to South Alabama

That T-shirt fiasco was the dumbest as you can get. Liberalism , it’s a thing… lol. You think like them or you don’t get to play. Who cares what someone is wearing. You don’t get to tell me what to wear and I won’t tell you what to wear.
Chubba was out of bounds on that, I still think someone put it in his ear. It was stupidly insane.
The man was out on the water fishing, bothering no one and gets his picture taken because Gundy doesn’t think like them. I’m sick of it and there are 70 million out there that think the same
Didn’t work for that year for Chubba either. He spent half the year injured
Why can’t a man have free speech unless you think the way a liberal does ? It’s about to havd a turn around

Every week the team works hard on new plays and Dunn never calls them. Why waste time on that if you don’t call them? In addition, he changes call words because he believes he will confuse the other team like we did with South Alabama🤷🏼. How many times does the offense forget the different words they use?

First let me say, I don’t think any of the existing schools will be told to ‘take a hike’. They will likely be restructured in their payout system and get a reduced revenue share, but they’ll stay in. The SEC isn’t giving Vanderbilt the boot just so they can invite OSU to join.

If you think there will be 60-70 teams in the next round of super conferences, I believe you are mistaken. That’s what we had before the PAC12 was consumed. There will eventually be two conferences, I expect with 20-24 teams each, the Big Ten and the SEC. The SEC is at 16 members, while the Big 10 is at 18. That would mean between 6 and 14 more spots left for all the schools that AREN’T already in the SEC and Big 10. Notre Dame, FSU, Miami, and North Carolina are no doubters to get slots. Probably Clemson and TCU too given their BCS and CFP appearances. So OSU will be one of a bunch of middle tier schools vying for the last 6-8 slots. Does OSU get in over Basketball stalwarts with ascending football programs in KU or Duke? If we’re exciting, maybe, but if we’re who we are now, the answer is a clear no. Its clear that OSU will be competing for one of the last few chairs with a bunch of schools that look a lot like us. And we can’t afford to wait until the selection is upon us to start thinking about becoming a good team again.

That said, I do want to say thank you for the response. And I reread your post and left out one answer: Which Big12 teams are in over us: I think TCU and Utah are easily in over us. If Colorado keeps Deion, they’ll leapfrog us. If our football is mediocre, then KU has the Basketball edge over us. Baylor has the location (and basketball) advantage over us, again if we stay mediocre. Even schools like Cinci and UCF, if they perform in the new Big12, would be seen over us. Cinci for their CFP appearance, and UCF for their location and top 5 national alumni base. Its very clear that we are choosing a very bad time to become mediocre.

The one point I’ll agree with you on is we have to be more exciting. We have to have a qb like Sanders without the ints and a little better arm. I think Rangle will transfer this year. Just my thought. Most successful teams now have one that is duo qb. We were pretty dam good the first six games of ‘22 before the wheels feel off. I still say it was internally
Kansas is one injury away from be very average. Duke is rising when they are only relevant thd first two games this year ? Until the last nine games we are ranked or close to being ranked Basketball needs to make a jump. We have some horses this year , we will see what Mike can do with them. We have as good or better facilities than most Money , money will be the difference. We are far behind most in money spent on recruits Wheres it coming from ? I agree recruiting needs a jump but we have always been finding diamonds in the rough. Problem is that when we get a recruit here comes Texas offering. We can compete in most othef sports Josh needs to make Omaha more often
You have a lot of ifs in your post to
Twenty years anywhere as head coach at a D1 is a tough go for anyone
:cowboy_hat_face:

If you are stating that Dunn’s offense would be better with a mobile QB, I can’t argue with you. In fact, I’d argue that his offense ONLY WORKS with a mobile QB. The numbers between when SS ran the offense and when ANYONE else ran it, are staggering. So while I agree with you there, somehow, that’s exactly the kind of QB we don’t have on campus, and that lays at the feet of the coaches. Whether its on Dunn or Gundy, somehow we’ve managed to recruit a bunch of Daxx Garmen types of QBs which don’t work in this offense. And before anyone talks about GG having running ability, I want to see it. The ability to scramble 3 times a game for 5-10 yards is not the same as being a threat to run on any given play.

Edit: And I agree that its hard not to become stale after 20 years in one job. Gundy isn’t the exception.

The score was 33-7. There’s a lot more problems involved with this team than what you’re just naming. Even if all the things you mentioned were corrected, We still lose this game. You complained about injuries on the offensive line last season, said the line would be improved. It’s obvious the line is experienced, but sucks. Many of us tried telling you this last season, and you still cried wolf. Just admit it. You were wrong on that, and you’re still wrong about Dunn. It’s also obvious after this past weekend Spencer Sanders has been the OC for the last three seasons (excluding this one).

What is stupidly insane is thinking that as a head coach of a major college football program the things you do and support won’t have repercussions. Gundy has the absolute right to wear what he wants and to support whatever ideology he wants to; I don’t think anyone disagrees with that. The problem is the appropriateness of him to do so. Gundy also made some tone-deaf comments about covid and players and money (before NIL) around the same time. How do you think it looks for a millionaire White head coach to align himself with far right ideology while insisting that unpaid mostly Black athletes return to make other people money? If Gundy wasn’t disconnected from his players already, the whole shirt controversy wouldn’t have had wings. Former players wouldn’t have come out and said that Gundy had made racially insensitive remarks before. It was all about Gundy as a person and leader and not nearly so much about his politics. Look at the coaches who seem to be struggling with the new NIL/transfer portal world. They have some things in common besides politics, mostly incredible arrogance and being out-of-touch while refusing to adapt. I don’t think Gundy and Dabo Sweeney are just having struggles because they’re conservatives. They’re struggling because of the other aspects of their personality. I am sure there are plenty of football coaches who voted for Trump who are having success (coaches tend to be conservative folks). I would also venture to say that they do a lot better job of connecting to their players, though. I would also guess that they’re not so comfortable as to fail to adapt.

It was very telling that two of our most successful plays last weekend were ‘run for your life’ QB scrambles by Gunnar.

Fact is simple: Its about winning. When Gundy went to the CCG in '21, everyone moved on from the OAN story. Now that he’s returned to mediocrity, its returned. Same with Dabo. When Clemson is run-ruling the ACC, noone cares about his politics. But as soon as you start struggling, the superfluous crap starts to matter. If Gundy was scoring 60 a game against these garbage opponents (like his old teams would have done), noone would be here talking about his interactions with players, the transfer portal woes, his NIL attitude, etc.

It’s hard to execute the play when the defense already knows where the ball is going. Go ask the South Alabama defender.

This is the last Bedlam…I don’t want to hear from the players or coaches the same ole “we are going to treat this like any other game”

Haven’t read any of the comments above but I think we need to swap out this offensive staff. Bring in Zac Robinson. Zac Robinson has 4 years of NFL position coaching experience at this point (he’s in year 5). I don’t know if he can scheme or call-plays but bring the guy in and let him try it out. He’s the passing game coordinator and QB coach for a Super Bowl champion. He’s one of our guys. Bring him in and set him up as the HC in waiting.

Gundy would never allow that to happen. He’s got this administration by the balls.

As great as that sounds, do you think Zac wants to be the guy seen as ‘forcing out Mike Gundy’? That would be just like WVU did when bringing in Holgy and running off their own ‘legendary’ coach. Zac played for Gundy. There’s no way he’ll accept being Gundy’s executioner.

I see you updated your username…:joy::joy:

Wonder how long before they change it again… priceless

Robert had been in hiding since the South Alabama massacre and I don’t see the ass beatings stopping anytime soon so I doubt he will be around to cry to the staff again.

Well, to be fair, he said we can still make 10 wins. The truly sad thing is that he actually believes it. lol

I see your point. Maybe you just give him his first shot at OC and then if he’s good he’ll get a head coaching gig and then come back whenever Gundy does retire. How much longer will Gundy want to coach though? He’s 56, Gunnar has 3 more years. After that he’ll be 60. Even though his contract is ridiculous, I think we (the athletic department) should begin planning for his eventual retirement.

I was one who had Marshall’s back, even to my friends who I know from our oSu days. Got one friend who should be HCMG Fan Club President. I bet he’s finally starting to see what I’ve been saying the last 3 seasons…if not, he will when we only win 3, 4 games this season if we’re lucky!

Y’all, who think Gumby should be our coach, need to wake up!
