Cale Gundy, Brother of Mike Gundy, Resigns from Oklahoma's Staff after Reading 'Hurtful' Word

I know he’s a very good recruiter , maybe that is just the uo name but he’s pulled a lot of good recruits for them

We already have Gary Gibbs on staff. Plus Kenny G for softball (who I think is doing a phenomenal job, btw). That’s enough crimson.

“Chose”

There is so much information floating around, it’s hard to say whether he truly chose to resign or was forced out. I probably should’ve said “forced to leave.” My bad.

Looking from a large timeline:

  1. Pokes win Bedlam, Linc bolts for USC, takes most of staff with him. Not to mention an entire recruiting class or two.

  2. Bob keeps them afloat until Venables is hired. Cale is forced out.

  3. Eventually, OU moves to the SEC w/ Texas. Now they have to fight for every scrap vs Georgia, Bama, LSU, Florida, A&M…who knows who else?!

  4. Keep in mind: Goon hasn’t won a Natty in at least a generation 20+ years.

OU football has become Indiana Hoosiers basketball. Hahaha!!!

Meanwhile, Pokes riding high as the top dog in a revamped conference complete w/ new hyped up :top: commissioner. OSU also has the benefit of a great relationship between Gundy, Weiberg the young visionary AD, and Dr Shrum, the badass President who smashed the glass ceiling with the hottest pair of orange stilettos!

Folks, this is about to get really good!!! Go Pokes!!

If Weiberg is that much of a visionary then hopefully he can see Gundy is as good as he will ever be and send him packing.

Top dog ? How about , Meanwhile, pokes stuck with a coach who couldn’t beat his rival and can’t win the conference while Baylor has went through numerous scandals and coaches yet has won 3 conference titles in less than 10 years. We weren’t able to take advantage of Texas being down longer and lower than ever. OU not being able to compete on the national level for nearly 20 years. Instead of top dog maybe a show dog who can’t win it’s regional.

“Gundy is as good as he will ever be” Well I guess we could say the same about Saban so using that logic Alabama needs to kick him out and find another HC. But seriously there might be a bit more ceiling left for Mike, he has done well enough the give him a little more time to grab that brass ring

I agree another 12 more years then he could be 1 in 30 and there wouldn’t be a player that was born when he won the conference.

Bobby Bowden became an assistant in 1956. Didn’t win his first Natty until 1993. Then won another in 1999. Y’all act like Mike Gundy’s done….maybe he’s been rejuvenated and is about to rattle off some truly historic stuff.

You’re comparing someone who won 12 conference titles to Gundy who has won 1?

In terms of longevity with a realistic opportunity to still win a first national championship, yes.

“riding high as the top dog in a revamped Conf”. By what measure do you feel grants OSU “top dog” status?

Why not, we got a former OU baseball player coaching our softball team who has done an amazing job, Kenny G (not the sax player, LOL)?!

I seriously doubt he’ll land in Stilly. I think Mike’s already feeling a little leery due to Gunnar soon to be QB2, lol, when he probably wished his kid would’ve went somewhere else to alleviate the pressure on Gunnar. But I could be wrong, but I’m sure he realizes that’s gonna be out there unless Gunnar is successful at some point.

Name another school in the conference who has been better than us in football outside of OU and Texas. Win total, number of NY6 bowl appearances, bowl W-L record….however you slice it, we have the credentials. Particularly post-2010. If I’m wrong, roast me all day.

@ travis5266 summed it up pretty well. Last year we were the best team, regular season champs, if not for the injuries going into the B12 champ and the turnovers during the game, even with that we were a couple of inches from winning.

Yea and when we win the B12 conf this year you will be nowhere to be found to eat crow.

Baylor has 4 ny6 bowl appearances 3 conference titles and a winning record against Gundy since 2010.

First, Gundy can’t win the conference unless he has assistant coaches who ignore him.

Second, I don’t eat poultry but I have drank a little old crow or wild turkey with my steak.
