Oklahoma State's Loss to Iowa State a Further Indictment on Constant Personnel Switching

First off I don’t know who “my group” is I’m speaking on behalf of many people I have crossed paths with over 40 years. Second don’t know about “destruction” but the current path isn’t a “growth” strategy in my mind.

It took me about 2 weeks of the “taking a knee” to simply turn off NFL. This NIL “begging” so f’ing “college athletes” can get their $200K/year is for me a bit disgusting. That’s not “college” in any way shape or form.

Then you wrap all the “it’s not pay-for-play” and “Uni isn’t involved” disingenuous crap and I’m left feeling disgusted. Disgusted thinking that Spencer (only an example, doubt he’s all that special really) likely dropped $10K on strippers and champagne only to show up and pussaway the game, then “expect” to be welcomed with open arms.

“It took me about 2 weeks of the “taking a knee” to simply turn off NFL” You & a bunch of other people said the same thing. Threatened to never watch again. And how did that affect the NFL? Not at all. It’s as big now as it’s ever been. You people think football is going to be on any kind of decline…….you’re fooling yourselves

Well……you’re wrong. The growth is already happening. Playoff expanded. Conferences got better. Viewership is up. Revenue is up. College football as a whole is thriving. It isn’t going anywhere.

Ok, but I’m not watching (no ratings) nor spending any money on the NFL. You do you FudgeSicle.

@ot1 My oh my….how will the NFL ever recover from your stance? I hope it can survive such a loss

Fudge on Fudger. Go off and be pathetic somewhere that’s pathetic.

Brilliant rebuttal:joy::joy:

Make no mistake……I HATE the portal. Hate it. I’ve said that any time it’s been brought up. But, just because I hate it doesn’t mean I’m going to assume it’s killing the popularity of college football. There is not a single indication, from any metric, that the popularity is on the decline. It’s quite the opposite. I watch college football every week. I pull up the big games. I’ll watch as much Big 12 as I can. I’m in the vast majority. You people saying that you think 99% of fans ONLY watch their alma mater/rooting interest are definitely in the minority. Ok @michael13, you seem somewhat rational. Explain to me why the popularity of college football will decrease nationally? You’ve mentioned it being the Haves VS Have Nots. Tell me when that wasn’t the case? Tell me when there was a time in which the Haves didn’t dominate the college football landscape? It’s always been that way. NIL/Portal didn’t change it one iota

Yea well I’m not wrong. If Michigan suddenly became non competitive and fell by the wayside perhaps getting regulated to div 2 or something (not going to happen but just a analogy) i don’t see the 100’s of thousands of Michigan alum’s adopting Alabama as their next go to team to root for.

Yep I don’t watch the NFL for the same reasons. The only games I will watch is when an OSU player is involved with significant playing time. Right now that is pretty much only Detroit and that is getting iffy with the reduced playing time by Ridrigo.

“Yeah well I’m not wrong”………so you claim that 99% of fans ONLY watch their team (which is a ludicrous statement). How do the TV ratings obtain so many viewers? Are all of those millions of people that watched Colorado-Oregon or OU-TX this week simply just fans of those particular schools? It’s simple math brotha……& your numbers don’t add up. Let’s assume that statement is true instead of absolutely ludicrous & ignorant……then why would it matter if Michigan or Ohio St fell off? If you claim 99% are only watching THEIR team……SOMEBOY has to make the playoff……so that teams fans will be watching. So how does it affect the ratings or popularity? You say they only watch their team……so as long as someone is playing….the popularity will remain the same, correct?

Just curious. Have you guys figured out what you’re arguing over?

If College football given the current environment is headed in a good direction given recent events like NIL, Portal, expanded playoffs, etc. My contention is that looking ahead things aren’t optimal

Not my claim at all. Just saying that there is a large set of folks who are fans because of their school and if you disenfranchise them it is not going to be good for college football long term.

I agree with your assessment.

What will it take for disenfranchisement for fans? Not much actually.

First time photos of our star QB lapping up champagne from a stripper’s navel night before the big game and it all comes unraveled very quickly.

Sure fellas……college football & the NFL are going to crumble due to kneeling & strippers:joy::joy:

@KetchupSicle
So you’re arguing that College Football is drawing in more money and viewers, and overall expanding it’s base? Got it.

Well the kneeling in the NFL has already taken it’s toll, not sure what that toll is as I’ve never cared enough to find out. As to College Football It’s not crumbling yet. It can be fixed if someone with some balls comes forward and forces some sanity to what is going on. However if nothing changes then the trend is a southerly direction for the sport.

Okay ketchup my thoughts on popularity of football will probably draw big numbers to the playoffs , maybe CC games but when this gap starts growing wider and wider the only games televised will be about 20 teams against each other. Fans of their school if they aren’t televised viewers will decrease. My opinion !! If my team isn’t on tv much then only way I can watch them is go to the game. I go to most games , can’t make them all though. Bowl games will be gone, no interest in them. A bunch on this board think they are anyway
If you’re going to be a player in the big games the means alums have to up their contributions big time Paying players has always been a hundred dollar handshake, this is way the hell bigger than that. It’s going to get messy. Watch
