OSU Season Postmortem: Dreadful Finish, Injuries and a Mass Exodus

It amazes me every time you get on. Gundy has coached or played for 33 years and is in his low 50’s. You act like he is your grandpa at a home with his pants down.

One thing i will never run out of is comments i can laugh at.

We can’t even beat a team that lost its last four games in a row (Kansas). A 6-7 team. That team also had no problems beating us by 20+. Did I mention also we lost to a 4 win team in Stillwater ? We have a coaching problem as well. Stop getting your panties twisted.

Keep your comments coming. It’s entertaining watching you waste away posting and getting no likes on your comments.

Lol i go commando.

So your saying we don’t need to change coaches. If we shouldn’t lose to ku that means we will never get better.

Im amazed you remember this season. Rainman have short term memory problems.

We have a pretty good idea of WHAT went wrong, but how do we fix it? Coach Gundy made it clear last year that if OSU wanted to play with the big boys that we need to be able to pay our assistants as much money as the biggest programs in the nation. The only coordinator who had a good season was special teams otherwise this team was trash on offense yet again and even worse on defense. Does someone have a lifeline/access to any of these kids that are leaving? Can they do an exit interview and find out if there’s a specific person or part of the culture that has them wanting to leave?
Seriously, in a 12 month swing this school went from future team to beat in the new Big 12 to “we’re lucky if they win 5 games next year” rebuilding.
I’m not sure if Coach Gundy is no longer up for the task or if recent rules changes (including the portal) have him just defeated but on paper, there is no team right now except for a loyal few. The rest are leaving at disturbing rates. What gives? Why? Where do they think they are going? Sanders still hasn’t landed anywhere yet either. Shouldn’t that have you thinking twice if you’re thinking of leaving via the portal?

I mean yeah TECHNICALLY thats true this season but come on the dude had over 20 starts with almost 6k yards passing and 1300 rushing under his belt coming into the year, he wasn’t some out of nowhere back up.

Which lineman injury offset the “we have 9 starting lineman” quote from Gundy in the pre-season? All I’m asking for is a name. Tell me which injury was too devastating to expect our coaches to overcome and put a competitive offense on the field?

I’d like to have a top 50 offense just force once under the Kasey Dunn era. While I’m at it I think Dickey needs to be replaced.

Ughh Robert like my post. I take back everything I said. Its invalid now.

Dickey needs canned immediately. So does Dunn regardless if the rumors are true.

I have given names. This site has given names. What i can say with 100% accuracy you know nothing about sports. With everbody giving names you also dnt know who the players are. You name the 9 starting lineman and i will tell you how much time the lost.
You think only a qb reciever or rb win games. Dom missed 3 games and was limping around in 3 other.
The list of recievers is long that miss. Qb, all three missed games.

Dom had one (yes one) 100 yard rushing game against a D1 opponent this season. He was a total non-factor. Either Dom shouldn’t be a starting D1 running back or his OL was just trash anyway regardless of who played on the OL. There is also the possibility it’s both. Which hints as to why I think Dickey should be fired and Dunn doesn’t know what to do without Sanders running the offense for him.

While I agree with your premise, I don’t think I want to waste too many years waiting for Dunn to figure it out. There is an art to playcalling, and I don’t think Dunn gets it. For example, we’re a team that throws a dozen wr screens per game, yet it took till we’re down 3 scores in the 4th quarter of the last game of the year to figure out, that maybe we should pump fake that and hit one of the ‘blocking’ WRs down a seam. You very rarely saw him use one play to setup a later play in the game. And then his adjustments once Sanders went down were absurd. We had Garrett Rangel trying to run zone read edge keepers. That’s all on Dunn.

Which is why I said what I said. Without Sanders he has no new concepts or any clue what he’s doing. The offense looked drastically worse even with just Sanders not taking the snaps. I don’t expect Rangel or Gunnar to perform at the same expectations as Sanders but it’s evident there was a massive talent and depth swing from QB 1 to QB 2. That’s something that’s not acceptable for OSU football (in my opinion). The HC tells us it’s not time to panic. Kind of hard to do that when your entire offense seems to be hitting the transfer portal :man_shrugging:. What kind of world are we getting into when Kansas gets better and we get worse?

You know why everyone thinks your joy. Is you do the same crap. You pull a partial quote out of context and make out that is what was said. The idiot i was posting want names. Dom was a part, which included the injuried line. Plus, all the others.

You tell us if we get a new coach then we can win a title.
But , cant understand ku getting better. M o r o n

Completely agree. While I’m personally doubtful that Gunnar is a Big12 QB, I do think GR is or can be if the coaches could adjust. I just dont have any faith that they can. But I’ve become jaded. I remember the Del Miller “super secret” offense. so I appreciate the difference between where OSU was pre-Gundy and where they are now. But I also recognize we have a total of 1 real trophy in the trophy case under Gundy and that was won 11 years ago (2011). I’m doubtful that Gundy’s the coach that gets us over that hump.

Yes. Dom was a total non-factor to everything. Even with a healthy line he wasn’t an every down back and proved it. Which means you still have to answer the question from AIX. Which players went down that were such a huge factor for OSU? There was no real major difference in our running game no matter who played on the line.

M o r o n.

You got to be the dumbest of you dimwits. Sit their and ask the same question over and over. Ive answered it. Just because you fail to understand the need for 22 players or better yet 44 players im sorry for you.

After hear you guys go on and on ill be fine with us losing for years. Hate to think we don’t deserve better if this is the intelligent of the fan base.

I actually have the answer for you here. Specifically on offense outside of K State the most players we’ve had out on offense at any given time is three. The three specifically out for a majority of those games were Bray, Birmingham, and Green. Outside of Sanders we haven’t suffered any major catastrophic injuries at any position where we go from scoring 45 to less than 20 points per game is justified. Stop being a whiny loser making excuses and accept the fact that Dunn and Dickey suck. You’re a phucking moron and have no clue what you’re talking about. Stop gobbling whatever Gundy chits out down your dam throat and try using some kind of logical and common sense for once.

Keep calling us names. Sorry that we’re not satisfied with 7-6 and a losing (4-5) conference record. Sorry that we’re not satisfied that 1 conference title won 11 years ago is good enough. Just think if TCU felt this way? They decided to move on from their historically great coach in Patterson, who like Gundy had set the bar higher than school had ever seen, and only managed to hire a coach to take their mediocre roster all the way to the CFP final.
