"Is usc still thought of as a good job" It absolutely is. Its not even a discussion of whether its a good job or not. The discussion can be on whether its an elite job. .
"They will not get an urban Meyer type" They will not get Urban Meyer. But Urb’s name pops up with bigtime jobs. Florida. Ohio St. Texas. It popped up with USC. His name isnt popping up for just any job chief.
"They can’t get a good coach like Franklin or Campbell" Ill go ahead and save this one. Youre going to be wrong again come early next year. This will go on your list of dumbassery
"They will get a Shark or lane type coach like when they got them" Somehow you forget what type of coaches those two guys were and are. Like I said…the new/hot/young Offensive guy. If you somehow think thats a negative on a job, then again…youre clueless.
"Go coaches see what they got and what they would get"
Hackett. Had been the OC/QB coach for a guy named Joe Montana. Pretty reputable hire
Pete Carroll: Had been a HC in the NFL for 2 different organizations prior to USC. Pretty reputable hire
Kiffin: Had been the HC for the Raiders and was currently at a very good Tenn job. Was the hottest name going at the time.
Sark: Had been at USC during their Carroll heyday. HC at Wash, which is a really good job. You see what he did after getting fired at USC.
Helton and Orgeron were interim guys. They are asterisks. You watch and see what kind of guy USC hires. It will be a big time guy. Will he work? Who knows. But i guarantee you itll be a very, very reputable guy
"Oregon has come in and taken recruits we have given offers to. Usc hasn’t" Dude…USC HAS NO HC. They have no Coordinators. How the hell can you expect them to recruit!!!
Usc is closer to Nebraska status then Alabama. USC was the best thing going before Bama got rolling. I hate that your memory only goes back to 2009.
"With the lsu job open they now will get the leftovers of lsu" You also arent smart enough to realize that theyre going to be hiring a different type of guy. LSU and USC are different jobs that require different types of hires. LSU is a slightly better job than USC. Its neck and neck. You just arent smart enough to realize it.
Idk if LSU is a better job than USC. LSU is in the toughest conference and OU and Texas are about to come in which won’t make things any easier. USC is a train wreck because of the money they have and then just California in general, but if you can find a way to balance all of that you have the entire state of California to recruit and nobody that could really challenge you in the PAC 12.
Tomato slice it sounds like ur trying to prove to urself this stuff. I’m not finding any of this fun to talk about. If u believe usc is this power house ok, great more power to u. If u think usc is going to make a big time great hirer wonderful. It would be more the fact they are due then to any other reason.
Do u want me to call u a genius, if it gets u to stop talking u got it. I told Oregon wasn’t that good in a bad conference. They would lose. Two week later they lost.
U predict everything about usc, so one of those will come true. When u predict them to get an urban Meyer type, a hot young coach or a good hc coach. U have covered all the bases. So ur a genius. And usc is back.
I think this is the same thing we said 6 months ago about Texas. Yes usc pays more so u will attack more.
Joey I was talking about this year. Ou was given everything from wv and Kansas.
Ur a moron. U told me how great wells was. Thats the point was. Tech didn’t see it. Stop talking about coach. I can run a long list of " great coaches" u have made, that are crap.
It’s like every thing u talk about u pick one thing then build a narrative around it. Then it’s proven wrong. U just move on. Stop moving on just stop
I dont disagree with that at all. The whole argument of what is a better job is really up to a matter of opinion. There are pro’s and con’s to both. To me, the LSU job is SLIGHTLY better based on the Conf and support. That entire state is all LSU. Its bigger than anything else going. 3 different HC’s have won titles there in the last 18 years. You can get any in-state recruit you want. USC has more competition for the fan-base. But you can absolutely get it rolling there pretty easily.
That’s true LSU is more stable. USC is kind of like playing the lottery, you’re either going to hit it out of the park or be looking for a new job on a couple years.
Many people think it’s still a top 5 job. Considering USC owns that conference for the most part it’s not inconceivable to think it’s not. I think it’s more along the lines of a top 10 job right now.
Now with Oregon kind of emerging again and winning like they were back from 2007-2014 in that conference that’s really the only school I can think of that’s going to challenge them as far as the job market goes if Cristobal were to leave.
Nebraska if I’m not mistaken hasn’t won a conference title in 20 years or a national title in almost 25 years. In that same time frame USC has won seven conference titles and one national title. USC has more national titles than Nebraska too.
Nebraska’s bowl record is at 49% while USC’s is at 64%. Nebraska has missed a bowl game five times in the last 20 years compared to USC’s one. About the only think Nebraska has on USC is more conference titles. That’s really about it.
See, you bring up a good point. Does anyone leave USC to take the Oregon job? HELL NO. But Oregon is going pretty good right now…and Cristobal is going to leave. That show you what type of job USC is.
He didn’t say anything about USC being back you dimwit. All he said was that at the time when they made the hires the coaches they hired had a successful track record.
It’s still considered a good job. Just like how OU was still considered a good job even though they sucked in the late 90’s under John Blake. It’s not inconceivable to think they could get back to being really good with the correct hire.
You’re just arguing to argue because you don’t want to be told you might be wrong. If Gundy left OSU today and went to LSU and was fired after three years then what would you’re opinion be? Do you still think he’s a good coach? Or are you going to blame the players and everyone else like you always do?
I love how you point out Oregon losing…yet skip over the fact that they beat Ohio St in Columbus.
Bama is the elite. Georgia, Clemson and Ohio St are next. Then you have OU and LSU. Thats how id just overall list those schools in general as of right now. USC is very much like Texas. If you think those arent great jobs…youre as ignorant as i thought
Kind of like how Gundy has six bedlam losses in a row, a combined record of 3-5 in his last 8 meetings with Tech and TCU, and a losing record to a coach that will be leaving the conference after being fired from a below average to mediocre Big 12 program.
I’ve got OU losing to either Baylor or ISU. They won’t win them both. Not that good this year. Baylor is on the road and ISU has a very good D and decent O. OU’s play has been sketchy at best.
I cant poke any holes in any of that. I have no idea what that bunch will do. I honestly, truly will not be surprised if they win 4 straight. I honestly, truly will not be surprised if they lose 3 straight. Who the hell knows
