Here’s the what you most likely get with Gundy before the 2025 season ends. This is from 2022 on:
- 21-30 overall record
- 1 bowl win
- Tons of players transferring out
- A pissed off fan base
- Showing potential donors you aren’t serious about change
Tell me what kind of serious donor or coach is going to increase funds into NIL or care about a job by holding on to Bob Simmons era type of results until the end of the season? Essentially, give me one great reason why the hell thats going to matter to any younger coach for potential donors at all? I’ve got the answer for you. It isn’t!!!
Just curious how many conference titles do Iowa St and Kansas have?
Have they become better or gotten worse? They’re certainly in a better position to win it than we are right now
.
Tanned, rested, and ready.
“Concepts are fine”
I predict that Gundy will be on TV by at least bowl season and before. Not anything major but as a Halftime analyst kinda guy.
First off, he already said he had no intention of “retiring”, and secondly, you can’t wait until the end of the season to start bringing candidates in. You’ve gotta clear the decks NOW so the process can begin.
I think the timing of it had to be now. Virginia Tech and UCLA have already fired their coaches.
Florida may be next. Others will follow.
We are in competition with those schools for applicants.
ZERO chance they want him. ZERO chance he wants it
Florida is a much better job than Va Tech & UCLA.
Va Tech & UCLA are better jobs than OSU. They will not be selecting from the same pool of guys
I think he’s facetious
UCLA is not a better job. There is zero fan support and they’ve been added to the Big 10 to be a punching bag for the rest of the conference. Anyone serious about coaching college football would not take that job until they prove they want to compete and show some fan support.
What good do you do yourself by keeping him?? Hes gone after this year anyway. Why keep him?? The buyout doesnt change. He isnt winning any more fans over. Gundy is also a loose cannon anyway, you do your best by parting ways now and giving yourself as much time as possible to find the best candidate. Some guys that may have played for Gundy may not even speak to OSU about the job …UNTIL THE JOB IS OPEN. You have to do it as soon as you can.
I disagree. Virginia Tech is school that had one HoF coach and hasn’t done much since. ACC/B12 not a lot of difference unless you are at Miami, Clemson or Florida St. UCLA is going to one of the odd teams out in the B10. Sure they can go to bowls, but I don’t think they will challenge for a conference title very often. Sure it’s a higher level because it’s B10 but not much. The real difference is UCLA wants a coach who can recruit CA and the west while OSU wants a coach who can recruit Texas. Different backgrounds.
Here’s a reality check of all reality checks, from CBS Sports:
Purdue coach Barry Odom
Odom just got to Purdue, but some in the industry have linked the Oklahoma native to this job for a few years as an eventual possible replacement for Gundy. Odom is a proven winner with a 46-34 overall record as a head coach, and he’s very familiar with recruiting Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. The problem with Odom? He’d owe Purdue $6 million to leave before Dec. 31, 2025. Plus, it’s questionable as to whether Oklahoma State is a better job than Purdue given the resources Purdue can tap into as part of the Big Ten.
Who is talking about the job anyway? And who is even talking to them about the job? We don’t even have an AD.
Edit: Some reporting Chad is extended, but he denied having that worked out at the press conference. I trust him to make a hire more than Holder, but I have a feeling we’re in major rebuild mode.
46-34 is a proven winner? .575 winning percentage. His conference record is 25-23.
Long overdue!!! SucksBalls, believe it as it should have happened years ago when Gundy lost interest in coaching and became a full-time rancher instead. He stayed too long and made a mockery of the program.
Now it is time for Gundy to give back to the program that overpaid him for all these years. If they man has any integrity (which is doubtful for such a redneck), since he has profited off the program for so long, and the program never sh_t canned him when there was cause, he gives back half his buyout so that OSU can rebuild using this as NIL money.
The only reason to keep the bum is because he cannot help himself and his redneck ways would eventually provide grounds for terminating him for cause.
I think it should’ve been done after Colorado last year personally. I am quite surprised they did it this early in the season to be honest.
