It’s well known that Zac has no interest in coaching college FB. I’d be surprised to see him accept the job at OSU.

Not about how hard it is, to prove. Just can you raise a fact question. Then it gets to a jury and it’s a crap shoot. Lawyers don’t like crap shoots.
The administration and BOR would NOT be taking the stance they are unless they are extremely certain the have maximum leverage to force a restruction withdrawal the threat of ‘fire for cause’ case … no brainer

Y’all are throwing the baby out with the bath water. If I’m an aspiring head coach, there’s no possible way I’d come here if this goes down. The BOR would basically be our Jerry Jones and we all know how successful that’s been in Dallas. Keep in mind there are players who are loyal to Mike and they’ll bail with this treatment. Anyone who thinks the BOR firing him will end well is delusional. It will cost the program for a decade at least, and I’m not interested in keeping our seats for that. If it happens, there’s a box and four clubs seats that will be available for this of you clamoring for change to pick up.
I’m sure Nebraska and TAMU, among others, thought the same thing

That depends. I don’t want seasons like this one. It wasn’t enjoyable. Do I want a conference title and then three years losing seasons? No. I’d rather be competitive every year.
The TCU Gary Patterson relationship did not end well and TCU ended up in the NC game the next year. Bobby Bowden was forced out at FSU. It won’t be the end of the world.

Neither of these are cause that would stick. If you can get fired with no buy out for this kind of stuff then no coach would have a contract that could be enforced.

That’s quite the understatement, especially when you look at Nebraska
One of the downsides to firing Coach Gundy is it will give every single signed player the ability to change their mind and go to another school. We didn’t have the biggest class and we’ve already let both coordinators. If the head coach leaves, why would any signed player show up and why would players debating on transferring not transfer? We do t want to end up like basketball when we couldn’t even fill all of our scholarships.
The “for cause” could be based on multiple things;

insulting the fans causing loss of NIL money

refusal to apologize when so ordered by the administration. “Sorry you were offended” is not an apology but is actually a “double bird to the administration” as pointed out at the time on the pistolsfiring podcast.

possibly Gundy’s refusal to fire Dunn and Nardo when ordered to do so by the administration, forcing the BoR to do it themselves. This is speculation but might explain why there’s been no confirmation of the firings.
Any settlement would likely be for less than the contracted amount and might include a mitigation clause so amount would be reduced if Gundy got hired somewhere else.
