Really like B, but OSU has too much baggage. If he got an offer from his alma mater, he would not have to think it over. He would simply call a moving company.
That’s true. I will say, however, at least Boynton has made games at least competitive (and sometimes even wins) against really good programs. Gundy, for the most part, throughout his career has figured out how to get past the average to below average teams (mostly) and gets pounded by teams with a little more talent than him (with the exception of very few years in his career).
The refusal to put together a stable offensive line and never throwing to a gigantic tight end across the field has been the main problem for Gundy since 2013 ended. But hey!!! Let’s keep recruiting at positions we already have enough talent and depth in!!! At least Boynton recognizes his team needs an offensive threat at the guard positions and three point shooting.
South Carolina just fired a coach that had a previous track record of success before going to South Carolina. That program is 75-73 with 0 tournament appearances with a record best 18-13 since Boynton first became the HC at OSU. BTW they also finished 9th in the SEC this season.
In comparison OSU is 87-73, 1 tournament appearance and win, and a record best 21-9 since Boynton’s been here. Despite the 15-15 record Boynton’s team still placed 5th in the conference this season and played some competitive basketball.
How in the hell would he not have to think it over? He would be essentially trading himself to a tougher job than where he is currently.

Remember 2017? “We’re going to play for a Big 12 Championship!!!” And he still found a way to get embarrassed by TCU and K State on his own field.

We have four wins against Baylor since Blackmon and Weeden left (4-7). Two of those wins when Baylor went 1-11 and 2-7. A program thats been under four coaches since then. It didn’t take their newest coach 10 years and ongoing to figure out how to win a conference championship either.
Well aware of the ‘exes and ohs’ versus ‘Jimmies and Joes’ philosophy. I think every coach who ever donned a whistle believes that to be true, as should every fan. I appreciate the response, but the point being college athletes are now free agents when the transfer portal is combined with NIL.

So what were we doing the entire time when Texas sucked and Baylor was being investigated by the Feds? That was our chance to establish the football program as one of the best in the conference. Instead, we decided that recruiting mainly three stars and going to average bowl games was still the path to success and getting better players.
