I don’t think the Thunder are going to make any moves at the deadline. They have the 2nd best record in the league since Thanksgiving and only have the 18th toughest schedule remaining. They aren’t missing the playoffs and they aren’t going to acquire any pieces that are going to help them jump out ahead of the top dawgs in the West. Gallo might be better trade bait as a sign and trade this summer and Big Steve and Schroeder will be entering contract years and can be moved as expiring guys.

Interesting. I like him alright. I don’t know that he fits the Thunder long term plans. Under contract for $14mill next year and then unrestricted FA. I think they would be looking for young guys preferably on rookie deals with longer team options where they can retain and try to extend before hitting the restricted or unrestricted FA pool.
It depends on if they’re looking to make a push this year. Which they may be in a heck of a position to do.
Also, the thunder turned down Schroeder to LA today.

So Iggy is going to Miami and just signed an extension. Keith Smith of Yahoo is saying the Heat are trying to get the Thunder involved in a 3 teamer to get Gallo. I would certainly take Dillon Brooks from Memphis and an expiring from Miami. I don’t know that we could get more than that at this point. I would take it though.

I wouldn’t call getting Brooks, a 23 years old averaging 16 points and shooting 37% from 3 and slated to make $2.5 mill next year, trading Gallo for nothing. I like more, but that seems like a move Presti would make.
What I’ve heard is the thunder would have to clearly win the trade.
Brooks is good, I don’t disagree. But giving up Gallo for ONLY Brooks is… eh. Throw a pick in (Miami has no picks to trade) then maybe. I just don’t see it happening with just Brooks.

That’s fair. I’m more hoping because I like Dillon Brooks and I think that might be the best total piece we could get. Gallo can still just walk to end the year. He and other teams don’t have to agree to a sign and trade. I know it changes the way they can work his contract if they agree to it, but there’s no guarantee.

Right he may walk, however we don’t need to make a deal just to make a deal for Gallo. They can take him, see how far they get and gamble on a sign and trade or even just signing him.

Looking like, if Miami wants Gallinari, they could simply remove protections from the picks we’ve already acquired, and possibly give us another first rounder for…2021? Can’t remember which year.
We might get Jae Crowder (!) and Solomon Hill from teh Grizzlies. I’ve always loved Jae Crowder. Dude’s a competitor and a very solid veteran who can do a lot.
I have a weird affinity for all of those Marquette guys. DWade, Jimmy Butler, Jae Crowder, Wes Matthews. They had a guy named Vander Blue that came after those guys that I just knew was going to stick in the league that never made it. I wouldn’t mind getting a pick and removing the restrictions from the 2023 Heat pick. I think the 2023 one is the restricted one.
So my thing with getting Crowder is if that happens we need shooting to come too. Losing Gallo for Crowder and Hill… Might be kind of worst case scenario. Hill has been better at the 3 this year, but it doesn’t fit. I would be shocked if Presti was bamboozled in to that one. Throw in Brooks and a Memphis pick, then absolutely.
I don’t believe that Miami can actually trade a pick that’s not like in 2050 either and they are right up against the Hard cap so they’d need to dump salaries and OKC is probably not going to take a ton of salary on as they want to get down under the tax too.
