Two Inches and a Gut Punch: Putting a Big 12 Heartbreaker in Perspective

Aging it’s not about just having winning seasons my boy pat. Most fans put winning championships over everything else. Who would we hire? Are you serious on that question?? How did we find gundy? How did we find less miles? How did we find jimmy johnson? I just don’t understand why you think getting someone better than gundy is impossible LOL I mean I know why because you have little brother syndrome is why. Baylor found a coach that actually beat the best coach that every osu fan has ever seen and beat an osu coach that has won more games than anybody at osu and beat a coach that has 14 years more experience than him all after just after going through some serious allegations and reduction of scholarships and after only two years of taking the Baylor football program over he beat the ALl MIGHTY GUNDY for the big twelve championship. (Meaningful game). To get notarized as a program you have to win meaningful games plane a no simple and our coach pukes down both legs in these games.

Difference between a winning competitive mind vs just as long as we don’t have any losing seasons mind is well… me vs a small amount of little brother syndrome osu fans like you. What’s the difference between a 3 win season and a 9 win season? Nothing at all. Neither season won (championships) anything meaningful. Who cares if we have some down years. It’s not not like we are wining any championships with gundy. We had down years before gundy and we will have some down years after gundy but maybe not nobody knows.we know we have a coach that can win more games than he loses ok we got that but we don’t have a coach that can win championships. No use a prolonging the inevitable and stay idle, it’s time to push forward into what could be a brighter future for osu.

Blah blah blah

Low expectations? A returning QB that is electric with his feet and being his third year under his belt and a defense that was really good last year all coming back and not to mention our head coach telling us we a going to score a lot of points and how much he liked this team? I mean I don’t know where you guys get this “everybody had low expectations for this team before the season started” stuff. Maybe after a couple of infamous slow starts in non conference games like every year under gundy but this team had the guys to win this league better than any other year or as good of a shot to win this league. You guys just come up with excuse after excuse for gundy every year and next year will be no different LOL. FYI we should win the big twelve next year with the guys we have coming back so don’t give me this crap next year is all I ask.

Truth hurts uh?

Yes u and ur pathetic being is true. And hurts knowing there are small people like u out there.

Need a tissue?

U have no mirrors. If u depend on a college team to make u feel like a winner. Ur a loser just accept it.

That guy I se in the mirror doesn’t make 5,000,000 a year to win buddy boy.

Like you just stated without stating it…you don’t have a competitive bone in your body and I could care less but what I do care about is if this administration thinks like you.

Lol that’s funny. When I said ur a loser I meant u. I know a most raving fans never played like jug. Or Joey his team won a lil and he wants to relive.
I have trophies from multiple sports and metals.
I have family members how played at osu. I played college sport at juco. By playing I know what it takes when u or ur team isn’t the best.
U are at home getting drunk peeing ur pants because the football fell short of ur dream.

Again, I want OSU to win every game, match, meet, etc. in every sport, but I’m not delusional enough to think that’s going to happen. You mentioned expectations. Oklahoma State football was picked preseason #4 in the conference. I think these expectations are set by the media and the coaches. People that know a lot more about football than you. We finished #2 in the conference. The over/under for wins was 7.5 for Oklahoma State this season at Las Vegas sportsbooks. We won 11 games so I think we surpassed those expectations significantly. Your unrealistic expectations were 15-0 beat Alabama in the National Championship game by 55 points. This team has failed you considerably. I would find a new team to cheer for. I’m sure you don’t go to games or donate to the program. Nobody will miss you.

I think it’s fair to say Oklahoma State’s defense has carried the team in 2021. Last year’s defense, which as you mentioned was among the better defenses in school history, couldn’t do that. I commend anyone who accurately forecasted the unit to evolve into one of the best in the nation this season. It wasn’t a mainstream expectation, further evidenced by the Cowboys’ unranked position heading into the season.

A returning QB that is electric with his feet? Spencer Sanders ran for fewer than 30 yards per game in 2020. This isn’t Lamar Jackson we’re talking about. Spencer may be experienced, but he’s not as strong of a passer as previous championship contending QBs such as Weeden or Rudolph. He needs support (and the offense was depleted with the departure of Hubbard and Wallace in the 2021 draft). That support was sorely lacking this season given the reliance on low experienced freshman/sophomore wide receivers and an offensive line that for stretches had trouble opening up the run game.

I stand by what I said: low expectations. Going from unranked to a playoff contending team is an accomplishment.

How many more years are you willing to wait for another conference title? Are you willing to say that as long as they get close, they never actually have to win?

I want Oklahoma State to be competitive. They’ve accomplished that for most of Gundy’s tenure. I’d like them to win championships, but I’m not amongst the ‘fire Gundy’ crowd when the difference between winning one was literally inches. As of today they’re a top 10 football team in the nation. I find that impressive given they don’t receive a top 10 level of investment from the school to compete at the same level of prestigious programs (Alabama, OU, etc.) in things such as facilities, recruiting, etc.

I’ll take that as a yes, just get close.

BTW as you will notice, I’ve never mentioned anything about the national level. Baylor has won 3 conference titles in the last 8 years. You seem to think we are heads and shoulders above them but they are winning the conference and we are not. So conference titles mean nothing to you, just get close.

Baylor also had a very, very dirty program in obtaining some of that success. Win at all cost, or have some morals? I’m sure I’m in the minority but I’d rather OSU football maintain high moral standards even if that means sacrificing a few wins on the field.

I agree that when someone does something wrong they should be punished but I never thought that what Baylor was doing made them a better football team or was the secret to their success.

I never typed that Oklahoma State’s football program is head-and-shoulders over Baylor’s. I think this season Oklahoma State has a better team. How much better is up for debate, but I think it’s telling that despite the team’s uncharacteristic 4 INTs and the absence of arguably its best offensive player (Jaylen Warren), the Pokes still came up inches short from winning a conference title.

I mentioned national level rankings because I find how a team is being perceived nationally is significant to the development of a program’s prestige.
