Video Game Thread

There has been a numerous amount of major flops in the last few years. Cyberpunk being the latest failure. The 2 most recent cods have had less and less content at launch. Fallout 76 was a dumpster fire. Like honestly. How can a game be in development since 2011 and still not work.

Yeah, but Blizzard is a decent company. (They make Fallout, right?)

Bungie made a deal with the Activision devil, which I think really messed up how Destiny, and Destiny 2 to an extent, were handled.

Activision is the worst of the worst. I despise that company.

Lol. The Bungie forums were lit as hell for years during Destiny’s life span. People hated Activision with fiery passion.

I swear their goal is to make games as least fun as possible but still get you coming back for more. Like an abused puppy or something. You can tell that Cold War is doing really well when they had it on sale for 33% off already.

Ah, dammit, that’s right! I forgot. I always get Bethesda, Blizzard, and Bungie mixed up.

Doom and Doom Eternal were both absolutely amazing games, for what it’s worth.

FO76 is good, now. While I understand the concerns (I played it), it’s on ongoing, open, MMO game. I’ll pay $60 for that even if it’s buggy.

I think the gaming industry has grown up real fast and unpoliced (by itself and fans) which has put us here. There’s a long article about how EA ruined triple A gaming with microtransactions because we took it and continue to take it and the industry has adopted it. Again, back to my main points.

Let the developers run the companies again and I think you’ll get good games again.

I agree with this. But I don’t think it will happen anytime soon. I think that it will take years for the general public to get fed up with the BS that’s being pushed currently. It took like what 4-5 years to get rid of loot boxes? We’re in for a few more rough years it seems.

The Fortnite guys (Epic?) took microtransactions and put it on steroids. I hate that, given lots of kids play that. I know there has already been a huge discussion on this, even reaching the halls of Congress in a few instances.

I’ll take micro transactions like the ones in fortnite any day of the week. Doesn’t effect gameplay, give an advantage, and you get exactly what you pay for.

Yeah, if they don’t give an advantage, that’s fine.

I agree on no pay to play and agree it will take time. But crying over game after game i don’t think will fix it. Stop buying and it will fix it. Developers will leave companies and start again.

Doesn’t Microsoft own Bethesda now?

Yeah, via Zenimax.

I think I’m going to go Xbox Series X for my next gen console just in case they try to put the next Elder Scrolls game out as an exclusive. I’ve been an Xbox guy since the 360 anyways, but I’ve always toyed with the possibility of switching over.

That’s like me deciding to stick with Pepsi over Coke, even though I’ve never had Coke and don’t know what it tastes like all because I think it might change after I try it.

Pepsi is way better btw, scientifically.

That’s a hot take within its own right, but I appreciate the analogy.

You want to know how I know it is better scientifically? I’ll tell you. My mouth. My mouth determined it tastes better after the science behind making it delicious.

Do we have a hot takes thread?
