Why I'm Alright with This Quarterback Battle Taking Time to Work Out

Yep. I pay for a membership over on SoonerScoop and they recently did a deal on the 20 greatest OU games over the last 20 years. That was #1.

My list would look a lot different. :joy:

  1. USC 55-OU 19
  2. Boise State 2007 Fiesta Bowl
  3. Bedlam 2011
  4. 63-28 LSU CFP
  5. 54-48 Georgia CFP
  6. 45-12 Red River

You can probably see where I’m going with this…:joy:

Ok, this made me lol. Well done

  1. USC 55-OU 19: That one was embarassing. Shocking. That OU team was LOADED.

  2. Boise State 2007 Fiesta Bowl: I couldnt have cared less about that one. Pretty sure that OU team felt the same way that I did.

  3. Bedlam 2011: That was when OU fans realized Bedlam was a real, legitimate rivalry in football.

  4. 63-28 LSU CFP: Didnt really bother me either. Didnt really surprise me.

  5. 54-48 Georgia CFP: This one hurt. Im pretty sure OU wouldve won the Nat title if they somehow couldve held on.

  6. 45-12 Red River: I hate Texas. But sometimes were the Belt. Sometimes were the Ass.

Thanks. To be fair, OSU had plenty of crap games in the past 20 years. 2016 Central Michigan comes to mind. 2015 Bedlam. UCF last year. Kansas last year. Heck…all of last year made us look like trash. :joy:

Just not as big of a problem. Gundy was 2-8. Luckily for Gundy, Stoops decided to kick it again to the fastest player in college football.

The game was tied 10-10 at the half. It still proves my point regardless. Gundy’s second best defense he ever had against a team that doesn’t have their starting QB the entire second half. The FACT still remains that when Gundy was given even terms, or advanced ones, he still found a way to piss his pants.

Would you say losing at home by 26 to a 7-5 Sunbelt team is embarrassing? I’d rather lose by 44 on the road to the #5 team in the country than suffer another one of those Gundy blunders.

If OU gets past Georgia, they win #8. It wouldn’t have mattered who came from the other side of the bracket, OU was going to roll. That offense looked unstoppable. Even more so than Bradford and Co. putting up 60+ in 5 straight. Tragically for OU, Mike Stoops was your DC back then. He couldn’t stop a nosebleed. :joy:

But do you ever recall sitting there thinking Gundy is just out coaching us. I doubt it and that’s why I’ve bet on Oklahoma since 2013. It hasn’t always paid but I’m money ahead. OU has won more against Gundy than any coach in big 12.

I tried here with you. I agreed on some points you made. I tried to have a discussion. But these guys are right. Youre one of these forum morons who just likes to argue, rather than have a discussion. Tootles

Well no, I havent. But I also put a lot more into the Johnnys and Joes than the X’s and O’s. Gundy is 4-15 in Bedlam as a HC. Id bet that he had the better team 4 times. Id bet he had the lesser team 15 times. Jimmy Johnson was likely a better X’s and O’s guy than Barry Switzer. But….he never won until he got the better players. See, the problem with having a discussion with you Anti-Gundy guys is that you refuse to acknowledge anything other than everything is Gundys fault and he sucks. You lose people with that approach because its not true. Hes the winningest Bedlam coach in OSU football history. Thats fact. Gundy also has lost more Bedlam football games than anyone else. Thats also fact. OU has beaten Gundy more than any coach in the Big 12. Gundy has also beaten OU more than any other coach in the Big 12.

Man you talk about a guy who went from the OU fan penthouse to the outhouse in a hurry. Mike getting fired at Zona and coming back to OU was supposedly going to be the reincarnation of the 2000 era teams. He couldnt have been ran out of Norman fast enough once he started getting rolled.

What are you talking about? I gave you some solid points. I’ve pointed out Gundy has more of an OU problem than just about any coach in the conference. I pointed out that even with an advantage in some areas he simply couldn’t get it done. I’ve pointed out that we’ve gotten to a point where even G5 teams can come into Stillwater and still blow us out.

I pointed out that even with the game being tied at the half and OU’s starting QB not being in the game he still couldn’t do it. Look at the 2021 CCG. Inside the 10 yard line 5 times and comes away with a measly 16 points. It becomes more than just an OU problem. It becomes a problem of chitting the bed in big moments. You OU fans can’t quite see it from that perspective.

OSU won 10 games in 2023 and returned the best running back in the country. They returned the most starters in the conference (second in the country). Gundy had the players last season, and went 0-9 in the conference. Did Gundy not have better players than most Big 12 teams last season in your opinion?

In the 19 years Gundy might have had the better team 4 times but excluding 2011, it wasn’t the years that we won. Les Miles never had a better team than OU so he must have been a lot better X’s and O’s guy than Bob Stoops.

Listen I don’t expect anyone to hate Gundy as much as me. But I’m tired of hearing how great he is or has been. He has a lower winning percentage against OU than several coaches. He’s won the conference once in 20 years and the Fiesta Bowl twice. He’s had more money thrown at him and the facilities than almost anyone in the nation. And like we’ve agreed on, Gundy’s not out coaching most teams.

There are valid reasons of why to wish Gundy gone. But anything involving not beating OU enough is ridiculously stupid. Mich St should never fire a guy for losing to Mich too much. Oregon St should never fire a guy currently for losing to Oregon too much. Oklahoma should never, ever be firing a football coach for losing too many games to OU. That is absolutely dumbassery.

In the last nineteen years of bedlam K State has beaten OU 5 times, Baylor has beaten OU 5 times and Texas Tech has beaten OU 5 times but it’s dumbassery to think we could possibly be better than one of those teams.

Obviously OU hasn’t been unbeatable but all the Gundy worshipers will tell you we have been the second best team in the conference. And what we have to show for it is one conference title and the 5th best record against OU in the conference when you add in Texas. But 5th out of 9 is something to brag about.

It’s not about that. It’s when you’re favored and still can’t win. I’m pretty sure OSU has been favored four times total in Bedlam since Gundy has been here. He’s went 1-3 in those games. If Gundy turns that around to 3-1 it’s 7-12. Which most teams in the conference (except possibly Texas) wouldn’t be able to say. Nope; just keep finding ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Again, ive never said the people that want Gundy gone are idiots. But wanting him gone because he didnt beat OU enough is ignorant. You just went on about KState, Baylor and Tech……who all have terrible records VS OU. So by your logic, everybody within the Big 12 shouldve fired thier coaches because they couldnt beat OU enough. NO ONE WAS BEATING OU ENOUGH during that time. Wanting OSU to be better….I completely get. Everybody should want that. Firing a guy for not being good enough to beat OU at a higher level is again…ignorant.

Not messing with you. Youre simply a troll. Zero interest in discussion.
